Stopped in Fussen on our way to the King's Castles. This is a cute little town right outside of the castles and is definitely worth taking the time to stop and walk around for an hour or so. There is a beautiful cemetery right outside the monastery. A cute river walk and Fussen does have a castle with a cool courtyard, but not worth going into. The best thing they have is a Schneeballen. Or snowball. It is a delicious fried pastry in a ton of different flavors. Worth the stop just for those treats.
Basically the whole area only has one or two walking street, so one hour is enough for shopping. Shops will be closing around 6:00pm so you can only come here during day time. The paintings on the building walls are beautiful and worth to take a look.
I have seen many beautiful small towns during this trip. Yes it's beautiful but looks similar to the others. It's not like "OMG! I need to picture this moment i found hidden jewel!"It's more like "Me arrived here. Hm fussen A..?"
We so much enjoyed walking thru this old town on a late Sunday afternoon. Bakeries were still open so we snacked but by 5 pm many of the stores had closed. At dinner we sat outside on the cobblestoned street at a table under an umbrella and had a delicious and light dinner. After dinner, as we wandered thru the town, we came upon a local orchestra giving a concert - wonderful music and very enjoyable. This small town is quaint and one I'd like to return to.
The altstad is very well conserved and some streets makes you fell like in a doll´s house. Nice shopps and restaurants.
Great little city with a lot of atmosphere and very nice historic walking street and castle. The painted housefronts are very colourful
It´s amazing... all the city is wonderful, and it´s not far from Munich. I would recommend to visit Fussen if you are in Munich. Love this city, I have been there twice and I would like to come back.
a good place to spend your evenings , walking around, exploring not just the houses but the shops, stop for a coffee or icecream , have dinner ...
