We had an absolutely wonderful day! The variety of terrain was gorgeous - valleys, river, forest, mountains, and the wild flowers! The horses knew just what to do, and you don't have to be an experienced rider to enjoy this activity. We will definitely schedule another trip and would recommend this company.
We have ridden and camped with Dry Ridge Outfitters on the southern Grand Teton ride and Yellowstone (Bechler Region) ride. We would repeat both of these experiences if possible. Everything, from the horses to the food to the people, helped create a memorable experience. We relive these fond memories through our pictures often.
I have had a lot of experience riding with Dry Ridge Outfitters. Each time I have gone it has been with a large group of mostly inexperienced riders. The horses are all great and the wrangler's are all very helpful and kind, so don;t be intimidated if you don;t have a lot of experience! The terrain is always beautiful and I have often seen moose, deer, and elk. A great time of year to go is in the fall when the elk are bugling. I highly recommend Dry Ridge Outfitter if you want to have a good time seeing some of Idaho's most beautiful back-country!
Dry Ridge Outfitters was a great trip for the family. The horses were gentle and the guides were amazing. We saw deer, elk, moose, and lots of cool birds. We went on a two hour ride and we got to travel up high and see beautiful views, and of course we had enough times for pictures! We had a great time and lots of fun memories!
We have gone riding with Deb several times over the years. This summer we went on a three day pack trip with 4 other friends. It was amazing. The terrain was a little scary (for me anyway) but they take great care of you. We are all in the 60-65 age group and thought we would do this one more time before we got two old but now are already planning on a 5 day trip for next year. I slept very good in the tents and the food was better than a lot of restaurants (steak, pancakes, strawberry shortcake). We had a lot of fun around the campfire too with cowboy coffee and cowboy poetry. Like I said a trip with wonderful memories. The horses are great too. The only thing I have to work on for the next trip is going to the bathroom.
We recently took a three day pack trip with Dry Creek Outfitters. Our group (six women) have taken several other pack trips in the Jackson area over the years. This time we had the best horses, best food, best pitched tents, best personnel of any pack trip we have taken. Unlike other trips, we would go with this outfitter again.
I have returned for 3 years in a row for a 5 day pack trip for the best vacation on horseback. I have ridden all my life and gone on several other rides in a variety of states. This is by far my favorite. The scenery is beautiful from climbing the mountains, the meadows the streams and the waterfalls. Deb and Kevin are wonderful hosts and great cooks. The horses are safe and in good condition. The pack trips I would recommend for riders with experience and those who love the outdoor experience. I just keep coming back for a great ride.
We had a blast on our trail ride through Harriman State Park with Dry Ridge. The guides and horses were terrific, and the ride exquisite. I wish now we'd taken a longer ride than the 2 hour! The pause at the top of the mountain was great. The horses deserved a rest after the climb, and we appreciated the opportunity to enjoy the view. 20 minutes seemed a bit excessive, though. It could have been so long to accommodate a little mare who was clearly not feeling well, which does make me question why she was being ridden that day. My only other (small) beef is that horses who work that hard really deserve a good grooming. Perhaps the stable was short on hands that day, though. The horses were marvelous, and obvious well cared for. If you don't have your own pony with you, this is absolutely the next best thing. We'd ride here again in a heartbeat.
We just had our third annual trail ride with Dry Ridge Outfitters at their Harriman State Park location and it was amazing as usual. This is not your average trail ride and you won't be disappointed! As a long time horse person and horse owner, these are the best trail rides I've ever been on! We can cover terrain that my horses would not have had the confidence to navigate. The guides at Dry Ridge Outfitters have consistently strived to tailor our rides to create a perfect mix of beautiful scenery and taking us on terrain that matches our skill level. The horses are well taken care of and dependable on and off trail. To top it off, Harriman State Park is incredibly scenic and we've seen wildlife on every ride. We look forward to our ride with them every summer!
I have already booked my third year in a row to go back to Dry Ridge Outfitters. Deb and Kevin provide a wonderful experience with good well-trained horses, great campfire food, interesting stories and scenery that shows God's beauty. Each year is a 5 day- 4 night pack trip. It is great fun and tired at the end of each day and then we relax around the campfire or swim in the creeks or ponds. I would highly recommend Dry Ridge Outfitters for experienced riders.
