Not the best presentation, the quality of the acts is not that great. The bar is ridiculously expensive and the 'theatre' is very hot and fairly uncomfortable.Though, I guess it would be ok for an awkward first date or something
This was a small venue located of the main strip of Woodward Avenue. When you arrive you can sign up to participate in the show. I could tell there are a lot of regulars who attend the show; a large portion of the audience knew each other and were familiar with the improve games. A friend from our party was called up on the stage 3 time. He said it was lots of fun but you have to think quickly. We had fun laughing at him. Afterwards there are improve groups that perform. We watched about 3; after awhile it got boring. There is also full bar on site with a few unique drinks. Overall we had a nice time... had some laughs & a few drinks.
I love this place! I have been here quite a few times now, and every time I have laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. There are many different groups that perform, and they always keep it entertaining! There are different prices on different days, and some days if you get tickets to the first show you can stay through the rest, so there are many opportunities to be entertained for the night without spending a ton of money. Drinks are reasonable, and many days have $2 beer specials. Go! See the funny guys and gals at Go!
GO Comedy is a must do! I live in the area and we frequent GO Comedy a few times a year. The only prerequisite is you have to love to laugh.
Improv comedy is funny. Reminds you of "Who's Line is it Anyways" The tickets were reasonable and parking was close. I would definetly go back again. I even suggested this to my 20 something kids.
Attended a birthday party here. It was fantastic!!! We had the best time. The improv incorporating the current affairs was absolutely hysterical. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Go Comedy is a cool little comedy club specializing in improv. It is a fun night out with friends or for a date. Often, there are multiple shows in an evening and sometimes you can catch a free show after you get tickets for the first show, depending on the night. They have a bar and table service, so you can grab a nice cocktail during the show. Weekends usually sell out, so pick up your tickets in advance at the box office, or buy online.
Went last night and had a really enjoyable experience. Great intimate atmosphere, the crowd participates, my wife was brought onstage. I won 2 free passes for next we go. Bar has quite unique drinks that were delicious. All in all, great way to spend an early Saturday night before hitting the other bars of Ferndale..
Steven,I'm sorry to read that you were unhappy with the sketch show you saw. I get the impression you were looking to see an improv show. If you're willing to give us a second chance, I'd gladly provide you with a pair of tickets to see The Go Comedy! All-Star Showdown (Fridays at 10pm or Saturdays at 8pm or 10pm), our flagship improvised show. If you are interested, please send me an email and I'll set you up. I'm sorry that your first experience at Go Comedy! wasn't a good one, but I hope you'll give us the chance to make your second experience terrific. Thank you for your time,Pj JacokesProducer, Go Comedy! Improv Theaterpj@gocomedy.net
I had the luck of catching the Thursday night line up of three improv troupes while in the Detroit area on business. Being a perpetual student in improv, I know talented improvers when I see them; and I saw a lot on my visit.I stayed for both the 9 and 10 pm shows. The 9pm featured Soft Friction & RARR, and the 10, The Die Centennial featuring, Henry & Agnes Mortelli.Soft Friction did an excellent long form that moved very well, good group of talent.RARR is a Trio that really delivered. Long form with many short scenes that blossomed quickly. Great pace and insightful play. What can I say about Henry & Agnes Mortelli? I will start with, "Wow"! The form was very fresh, and their interaction was relaxed and fun. I really enjoyed watching them perform. Side note: I have seen Stephanie Weir perform many times when she was with Second City and Agnes reminds me of her. A very talent pair, be sure to see them because they are going places.Overall Go Comedy delivers with great local talent, a welcoming friendly staff and the perfect atmosphere for improv all for a very affordable price.I will be returning to Go Comedy every time I am in Detroit, and I get there a lot.
