Pictures came out beautifully. Water was crystal clear and showed up just like the picture showed. We will definitely recommend a vist here to our friends and family. Great place for a bag or picnic lunch
The most beautiful lake and camping. Yoga every monring on a cliff overlooking the lake- very peaceful and sothin experience.
The cabins in this park (puma area only) are very well kept... they looked very shabby from outside...however the cabin from the inside felt brand new....The heater/ac is an extremely important feature. ...these are pre-manufactured cabins with no water or restrooms. And one major drawback for these cabins is the proximity to restrooms/water....they are the farthest than any other site on the campground. Also, the cabins are very closely built...with almost zero privacy..........we were worried whether our camp fire chats were not loud for the neighbors...The lake is beautiful and is a completely untapped destination....
I grew up in this area, the beautiful wildlife, history both told and untold, and nature all around is amazing. Growing up in a small town, on the weekend you didn't always have a lot to do, so you went to the lake. Plenty of fishing spots, unofficial swim areas, and campgrounds for everyone. Even if you are going for a short drive and happen to need a picnic spot, make this your stop.
This is a beautiful lake with so much to do. Mark Twain's birthplace is nearby. The Clarence Cannon dam and visitor center are not to be missed. There are hundreds of acres of lake to enjoy.
This is a very relaxing place to take the kids and go fishing for the day and the water is so clear there its not the dirty water, its so fun looking in the water an seeing the fish swim, and the deer and the squirrels added a lot of oos and awes to our day as well, and then there is picnic areas around and bathroom facilities within walking distance we recommend this to any family needing a little getaway at a cheap price!!
Mark Twain Lake & Park offers many things for the visitors...Begin at the new visitors center over looking Cannon Dam. Just home from our first time camping at Mark Twain. Excellent facility consistent with what we have come to expect from Missouri State Parks. Friendly camp ground hosts, clean facilities, and well maintained & clean park and lake. Not many boats on the water so great for fishing as well as tubing, boarding, skis, etc.
Started out the day at the visitors center, History of the lake, area, floods etc.Exhibits of animals in the area. Hydroelectric generation, rocks, plants, so much more.Drive on down the road to Mark Twain Museum with his boyhood home, A very nice museum, set up nicely, very well maintained. Managed by the State Parks and FREE.Leave a generous donation, it is well worth it
Stayed at a Indian Creek Campground in an RV. Most sites have electrical hook-ups and some have sewer connections too. The Camp Sites are very nice, and the Lake, Marina, Store, and boat ramps are close with ramp access throughout. Very inexpensive. We rented a pontoon boat for the day and had a blast cruising, fishing, and sipping on some adult beverages. The lake, outside the swimming area of the beach turns into party cove. No Alcohol or Pets are permitted on the Beach, but if you're on a boat...good times. The staff at the marina, and the store on the dock, were very friendly and good to help out whenever possible. Ask them anything. They park management personnel do a good job getting around to all the Shower and Bathroom Houses for cleaning and maintenance daily. Note I: If something is trashed or disgusting, its a fellow camper that did it. Just wait a bit, the staff comes by daily. Note II: You are in a forest, and the Shower and Bathroom Houses are well lit, so there will be bugs, lots of 'em. All in all, this is a big, beautiful park, with great staff, and we will be back...
