Just came from another great play presented by the Forestburgh Playhouse. This has been a wonderful season of presentations, so far. The playhouse is rustic and some of the seats are old but the presentations are energetic and chock full of talent. Loretta Switt was in two of the shows. This season has been musical shows and the music is always live, not canned. After the show you can attend the cabaret, limited menu but large entertainment. Over all it is a great night out.
If you want to laugh until tears leak out of your eyeballs, 'Le Cage Aux Folles' at the Forestburgh Playhouse is where you want to be! Pilar and I were at the show tonight and frankly we haven't laughed that much in quite a while!!! It was just plain fun! Though all the actors and actresses did a magnificent job, some extra kudos must go out to Jose Luaces (Jacob the butler/maid) for every time he stepped on that stage he practically stole the show! We will be attending a showing of 'The Chosen' at the Playhouse next weekend and after what we experienced tonight (easily rivals and surpasses NYC's Broadway with their super talents) we expect nothing less than the perfection we found tonight! Bravo Forestburgh Playhouse!Killer line of the night: "Have some respect for a poor homeless....widow," -Jacob (Jose Luaces)
We were expecting mediocre performances, but were very pleasantly surprised. Cast members had terrific voices - not a lemon among them. Only downside was small parking lot. Suggest parking on the road if you can. Not to be missed.
Broadway shows at non-Broadway pricesalways a mix between drama and musicalsChildren's shows as wella great family outingCon: Gravel parking area--takes a while to get in or out--on premises FREESmall intimate theater-former barnWish they had children's shows on Sundays
The actors are fantastic, the atmosphere is very pleasant-especially since it has A,C., & if you stay for the cabaret the entertainment is professional & thoroughly enjoyable.
The acting and singing was great. The theater is comfortable and everyone there enjoyed the show and gave the actors a standing ovation. I look forward to returning to the Forestburg Theater next year for another show and a good time. I heartily reccomend this theater to everyone looking for a great time.
I just saw matinee of "Spamalot".....and it was fabulous!. The cast of the play was fantastic. What a group of talented people! Great performance and all the wonderful adjectives a person can think of. Very good experience. I do recommend this play.
Good acting, interesting play in a rustic theater. You have to know where you're going because it's in the middle of nowhere. They have a tavern/cabaret where things happen.
My mother and I went on the opening night of Grease. The show was GREAT! The acting and singing was excellent. I made great friends with Sasha (the dog that frequents the establishment). I sat in F111 and my mother in F112. My chair was broken, which caused me to have back pain 1/2 way into the show. Luckily, the seat next to me was vacant and I switched to that one. There were two ladies seats away from me and one of their seats was broken as well (and she too complained of pain). I had a fantastic view of the stage. I really hope they fix the broken seats and upgrade the place a little because this place really has some excellent talent.
It's such a small place, yet feels like you could be down in NYC with such intense performance. Seriously, there isn't a bad seat in the house, and the actors are all HUNGRY so they give great performances. I've gone to many over the years, and you NEVER see anyone mailing it in. It's such a pleasure to go, and I can't wait to go again this summer!
