The Gauntlet is a nice club....tough course but in good condition. The staff are friendly and helpful. Kudos to Brian in the pro shop, made me feel very welcomed, and Denise, who was running the beer cart. She was really pleasant and friendly and came around several times, unlike some places where you might see a drink cart once per nine. Overall a good experience. ****
I loved the layout of the golf course, but the round took almost 6 hours to complete because the course was overbooked. The course was in good shape. Book your tee time on GolfNow because it is much cheaper than booking through the pro shop. Bring bug spray because the yellow flies are brutal.
The course was in decent shape other than the greens (which is kind of a big deal). The clubhouse and surroundings aren't much, but that only matters if you want to have a wedding or tournament there. The real problem for me was time management. They had a league playing there, and things were so behind schedule than we had to tee off 45 minutes late. Then the pace of play was incredibly slow. In all, we basically had a 6 hour round. Not worth the drive and the price.
This course was absolutely beautiful and challenging. The front nine is tight and requires some thought to pick your way through it. The back opens up a bit. The fairways are well manicured and overall the course is well cared for. The reason for only four stars? The greens. They rolled well enough but it was apparent that they could be better. They are pretty small. I think that the management my have reduced their size over time to save on maintenance. With this being said, I will be back! I enjoyed my round and felt the course was a fair challenge.
Average golfer but always ready to play a new course. Made a Tuesday afternoon tee time through GolfNow at a great rate ($17). Course was quiet but in pretty good condition coming out of winter. Not terribly long but a very challenging layout that uses the natural terrain. Lot of blind shots and split fairways. Great deal for a quality Dyw course. Highly recommend.
I've played here since it opened in 95. The course is in superior condition. Plush fairways, greens roll true. A lot of work has been one on the couse and it shows.A must play in the region.
My son recently played in a Junior PGA golf tournament here. The course is beautiful but has some pretty narrow fairways and some tough Tee box locations. It borders a beautiful quiet lake and is a great challenge. Course well maintained. Sand traps were red clay/sand, though, not white sand. It had rained torrentially the night before so it was a bit soaked the day he played.
Tight but beautiful course is somewhat unforgiving in places. Greens were in great shape. Staff was helpful and courteous.
Well taken care of and has a nice pro shop and snack bar. Very scenic area
Upon my recent visit to The Gauntlet Golf Course I had a very disturbing experience. I was approaching the front desk to check myself, my family, and friends in. There was no one there. Out of nowhere to my disbelief I heard a sexually explicit conversation going on in the office behind the check in counter. I was absolutely mortified, especially because I had my wife and grandson with me as well. Once the woman realized she had customers at the desk she put her cell phone down and came out to check us in. No apolgy offered. In addition to her foul mouth, vibrant red hair, and pregnant with her breasts hanging out I was disgusted to say the least. If I hadn't driven from up north in traffic I would have turned around and left. If this is the type of customer service The Gauntlet Golf Course has to offer I have no desire to return. Families beware.
