The gnats were numerous, the temperature was hot, but the trees are grand and beautiful, the scattered play sets perfectly placed, and the mix of activities and people perfectly balanced. What a happy place.
I like the big open space, room to roam, take in a breath of fresh air and enjoy the honorable Veterans memorial. This park IS the best for everyone - it offers multiple play areas including young children’s climbers, swings, slides, sand volley ball and more. I have enjoyed many wonderful visits to this park with my family and friends - can’t say enough good things about it. Bring your pick nick to many tables with or without pavilion and enjoy!
Very nice family friendly park. Birdwatching, dog walking, roller skating, soccer fields, volleyball, playground, picnic areas, and the Sandhill Cranes......awesome!
A nice peaceful place for a walk, sit, view on a pretty day. Ecclectic gift shop. Nice variety of plants/trees/herb/bamboo garden, prarie views.
I loved this park. It was huge! Lots of wide open spaces, plus picnic tables and pavilions. Plus a nice running and walking trail. Very scenic and peaceful
The park has a little of everything: trails, bird watching, playgrounds, covered pavilions, basketball and volleyball courts, soccer fields, jogging path with workout stations and even a nice restroom facility. Parking can be tricky on crowded days. I've never encountered and any hostel people at the park, but I have seen a car broken into, so be wary of that. This is Kanapaha park, not Kanapaha botanical gardens. They are not far from each other, but one is a county park and the other is a botanical garden. And both are great for what they are.
This is a beautiful county park in Gainesville which has so much to offer! 5 picnic pavilions, grills, and the rental of a Meeting room with a kitchen. The private center costs around 400 including the kitchen but is awesome and modern. The pavilions are first come first serve so check it out!
We came for the camellia show that was going on last weekend. We have been to the gardens many times before and for several special events. If you ever get the chance to see the camellia show, I would highly recommend it. I had no idea how many different types of camellias there were.
Lots of space and usually not crowded. Nice place to walk and to take children and plenty of parking.
Want a place tto stretch your legs and let the kids have fun too? This is a great place for that. It has a soccer field, playground equipment, nature trails, bathrooms (important!), swings, picnic tables in the shade, grills and then some! It's not far from I-75 and if you are stopping by Gainesville or just passing through it's the perfect place for a picnic!
