The short walk to Dry Falls is worth it! The trail has been recently redone with stone and hand rails. The hike is even more fun because you can hear the falls before seeing them. We did not know what to expect, and were a little breathless when we saw the raging water. The waterfall cascades over a ledge and you can walk behind the falls, with only a light mist touching you. There are so many fun camera angles along the way. Enjoy!
Was in Cherokee and was only about a hour drive to Dry Falls well worth the drive. The access to the falls is really easy some stairs and very short distance. They even have a handicap area were you can view the falls. Bathrooms in the parking area.
Such a beautiful natural attraction. Definitely bring your camera if you're a shutterbug or just sit and ponder the magnificence of this natural wonder!
You will enjoy this scenic waterfall that is easily accesible from the parking lot. Tons of water spill over its surface per minute and it is absolutely magical when it is frozen in the winter months!
Dry Falls is beautiful and breathtaking. Parking is available and the pathway is easily accessible. Beautiful photo opportunity and worth the time.
Lots of great falls in the area but don't miss this one. The whole area has been recently updated with a new parking lot, bathroom and walkways. But the main attraction has always been the walk behind the massive waterfall. You will get misted so be prepared to get damp. The walk down isn't too steep but it can be slippery behind the falls. Right next to the road, so no long hike to see it and the new observation deck makes the view accessible for all. Only a few minutes from downtown highlands.
Just outside of Highlands NC you'll find Dry Falls. It's only about 3 miles from the Main Street area and well worth the drive. The falls are easy to located, with a large parking area complete with restrooms. The walk to the falls is a very easy one, with well maintained walk ways. The area also features a handicapped accessible overlook so those who cannot make the steps down the falls can still enjoy the beauty. The falls are a magnificent sight, roaring water falling from the rock cliff with a gentle path that travels behind the falls and around to the other side, offering a unique opportunity to see a waterfall from the back side of the water. You will get a little damp from the spray, but not too bad. It's an absolute amazing sight to see. Don't forget your camera.
We had a great time during the small hike, our children loved dry falls and it wasn't very strenuous, it was beautiful a must see for sure.
If you're ever near Highlands - or, if you're like my family and don't mind driving a little out of the way - make sure to stop and see Dry Falls! The volume of water was surprising to me!
We enjoyed seeing Dry Falls in a snowy atmosphere. Ice sickles abounded. The many steps were fun going down as well as up. The way behind the falls was blocked, of course. Very pretty.
