Gatineau park makes living in the city wonderful! Just a few minutes from the centre of Ottawa, you can be hiking, mountain biking, road biking cross-country skiing, down-hill skiing, snowshoeing, or just enjoying the scenic outlooks atop the Eardley escarpment of the Ottawa river and valley beyond. Also of interest are the Lusk Cave, the historic McKenzie King Estate, the beaches on Meech lake, and campgrounds a bit further north. So much to do so, so close to the city! My favourite summer short hike (3km) is the Lauriault and Waterfalls Loop that starts at the McKenzie King estate. A preferred long hike (10km) is the Wolf Trail that leaves from P13 on Meech Lake. As a bonus, on your return, you can have a swim at Blanchet beach if it's warm.
So beautiful every seasons, nice bike trails, lakes, walks in the wood and the view is to die for, you can not go wrong spending a full day in the park cause it's huge
Very nice clean and organized. a beautiful park to be proud of on a international scale. Beautiful trees scenery paths well groomed
Beautiful views in the fall with all the leaves on the trees changing colors.Very busy. Go early in the day. The traffic can build some pretty long lines.take your camera and take lots of pictures,
At the Belvedere you will be able to see a big portion of the city and an unlimited numbers of colors in the falls season.
Always something to see and do in this national park in any season, just a short drive from downtown Ottawa.
No matter the season, Gatineau Park has so much to offer! Walks among the beautifl lakes, majestic trees! It's sooo beautiful! In October, it is breathtaking! And during the winter, WOW!
It was great experience to see the creativity of the artists on Ice...The Ice slides were so much of fun ...both for us and children..Lots of games and activities for children..My suggestion would be to take break for 30 mins in the shelter nearby there..if you are in the open area for more than an hour...you can again resume your activities post that...you can enjoy the performances over there..There is free bus service from ottawa to Gatineau every 15mins over the weekends...:-)
I have cross country skied in many places including the Horseshoe Valley area, the Laurentians and BC and I think Gatineau Park is the best of cross country skiing.I drive up from Kingston to enjoy this park. The Ottawa climate makes for a longer, more predictable ski season and the Park is special.I have mainly skied from Parking Lot 7, but today took the 52 trail from Lot 17.The trails are challenging, beautiful and impeccably well maintained.Be prepared to be humbled by some fantastic skiers, but the trails are good for all levels.Take the green trails if you are inexperienced!!
A weel preserve park with trail for byke. In a car you must see the view from the lookout that as a bird eye view of the Ottawa river. Nice and clean.
