Glad we left these gardens till last during our half day visit to the Palace, as we could relax and the sun had come out by then. Found it very interesting to watch the professional gardeners at work and to see how they prune and maintain these very old gardens and we will enjoy returning at a different time of the year next time, maybe May or October to see how the plants have grown and flowered etc. such a tranquil place, great for a rest and picnic after seeing the palace. At this end of the grounds there are toilets but we did not come across any shops or restaurants, so make sure you already have your drinks and food with you ( maybe we missed them). There is also a new modern open theatre here, which hosts music festivals in the summer months, can imagine it being a wonderful setting for that, so we'll worth looking out for information on this in advance.
While Generalife is not as large or luxurious as the Nasrid Palaces of the Alhambra, it is still a beautiful building surrounded by gardens and water fountains with a great view over the Alhambra and Granada.
The ticket to see the Alhambra includes the Generalife entrance fee. Walk along the beautiful gardens and experience the magnificent views of Granada and the Alhambra sight. Go early or late in the day to avoid tourist busses.
We paid a visit on a clear, sunny, January day and although the garden had little in flower it was still a delight. The garden was well manicured and very peaceful, the views fabulous and no crowds.........perfect!
The gardens and Palace are absolutely beautiful. We went on a sunny day in March just before the start of the summer season so everything was looking its best. The water Gardens are magical and a very peaceful few hours was spent there. If it's a nice day and not too hot then I would take a few extra hours to stroll and sit in the gardens, as we did.
Part of the Alhambra ticket - all included. The summer palace with beautiful gardens and water features is well worth the visit. Do not miss this part of the Alhambra!
Beautiful summer residence and gardens, looking at the Palaces. Nice setting, many benches for sitting down and enjoying the view of the palaces and Granada; wonderful water stairs.
Title says it all. There are some pretty cool gardens here with a lot of water. But you really have to be into gardens to want to spend any real time here.
