Two of us took a 4 hour horseback ride to the top of Snow Mountain. Parts of the trip were a bit rugged but exciting, and the views from the top were awesome. I highly recommend you doing the ride if you want something a bit different and adventuresome. Our guide was Bryan (suggest you request him!), who not only ensured we made it up and back safely, but shared lot's of information on the local lore (including a view of a small gold mine).
Our time with Sombrero Ranch was remarkable. The staff was kind and informative, and we were treated like royalty. The animals were taken well care of, and well loved. We highly recommend this experience to anyone and everyone
We had the best time on horseback ever!! Turned out that our ride consisted of just our group of 3 ladies lead by a wonderful personable wrangler guide, Catherine (with a lovely shade of purple hair!) She was very knowledgeable about Colorado, the vegetation, history of the area, mountain ranges, etc. She knew the personalities of our horses and matched us all well. She took the time to offer photo opportunities and other points of interest. We also enjoyed a delicious steak dinner grilled to perfection by trail chef Dusty who sat and chatted with us & Catherine. The evening sunset was wonderful. Even the staff checking us in at the beginning of our ride and those helping us at the end were extremely courteous and personable which overall made for a great experience. We'd do this all over again... And hope to get more trotting in next time! ; )
We rode the sleigh ride/dinner and it was amazing! The manager Sarah was our guide and even though these south Louisiana peeps froze their butts off, it was sooo worth it! When we were almost back to the lodge she radioed back to the cook to have our meal ready when we got there. My husband had the fish that was fresh and great flavored. I had the chicken and it also was delicious. The sides and homemade dessert were also delicious! Can't wait to do this again on our next trip to CO!!
Everything about this experience was AMAZING! Went with 3 friends and everyone loved this. The ride was beautiful and fun, dinner was DELICIOUS, and the customer service from time of booking on was spot on. I HIGHLY recommend this for anyone looking for a memorable and unique experience!
Thry were friendly and organised and gave us a great sleigh ride. It was exactly what was promised & expected. We will make this a regular family outing.
Sara Hubbell-Engler Manages the Sombrero Stable at Snow Mountain Ranch and when contacted about a sleigh ride for my son to propose to his girl friend was so accommodating and delighted to help. A horse named Tom provided the horsepower and in a beautiful red sleigh pulled our son and girlfriend through the snow covered woods to a stopping point for a warm fire and hot chocolate. The location is surrounded by beautiful Spruce and Lodge Pole Pine forest and several historical log structures and cabins are in view. The setting has many places for that perfect "Christmas Card" shot and Sara's personality and genuine love of what she does makes this the perfect special time to be remembered forever.
Me and my 5 year old daughter and 2 year old son took the horse drawn sleigh ride during the day. The kids really enjoyed it. It was a short ride but beautiful. Staff were great. We stopped half way and drank hot cocoa and roasted marshmellows. Bring your own graham crackers and chocolate if you want smores. I was told they have horse bac riding and pony rides. I def want to go back.
This was a beautiful ride led by a guide that was fabulous! The horses were well behaved and confident in the terrain. We really enjoyed it!!
Wonderful and fun experience. If in the area again I will definitely stop by. The people were wonderful and horses very well trained.
