Definitely worth seeing! Loved seeing the creativity and reuse of old materials. The large windmill like structure was like I spy of metal
This is the most unique sculpture park we ever have seen, from the "Eyeful Tower" to the tribute to 9/11. Many of the sculptures are of a humorous note, and represent the most creative approaches and use of vintage materials that we ever experienced. A joy to behold to young and old, alike!
This is free and it is amazing. The sculptures are in a serene setting and they are beautiful. We were able to take awesome pictures.
Free! We walked around to see the creative sculptures. Unfortunately, we got there too late to meet the creator. Took a lot of pictures and had a great time
If you want something a bit different and free to boot, try this park. Interesting repurposing for junk. We like his memorial of 9/11 and the statues of Bill and Hillary.
Galena is privileged to have such a great variety of artists working in the community, one of those artists, sculptor John Martinson's sculpture park is on a grand scale and worth the time to find. Easy for me as I drive by it several times a week but probably a bit off the beaten path for visitors unfamiliar to the Galena area. He has a unique perspective incorporating a sense of humor into his work. I highly recommend taking the time to stop by.
So many sculptures made of everyday items but put together in such a neat way...I surely would never have thought of using old wrenches, a cheese grater, etc. to make interesting art! Worth taking the time to explore.
The sculptures were really cool! It's a bummer that a few were destroyed from a previous storm. The drive to get there is a hassle due to some very hilly roads.
We stopped by on our visit over the 4th of July weekend. We plugged in the address in our GPS on Dodge Street, but this is really on West Street. It's a shame that a recent storm blew down some huge trees which damaged some of the sculptures. Even so, well worth stopping by. Some interesting creations made from an eclectic mix of parts.
When traveling to Galena, Illinois, you don't want to miss West Street Sculpture Park. Take a walk along the trails hidden in the woods and view the many sculptures on display. Wonderful, fanciful and imaginative. Loved the giant tinker toy and the bike in the box sculptures. All unique and creative.About a block and a half off Gear Street on West Street, sort of hidden away but worth the short drive to find. Free admission. Open dawn to dusk.
