Paris Mountain is a great place to go if you do not want to spend an entire day to do a hike. Many times we have traveled an hour or more to get to some really nice trails with great views. Paris Mountain is the next best thing when you want to get some fresh air and exercise but don't want to make an entire day of it. You can make the hike as easy or as hard as you like, there are several trails to choose from. Some as short a 1 mile or you can combine several trails and hike as much as 12 miles. This is the best time of year to have some nice views since all the leaves are gone. We enjoy this park so much that we built a house only 1 mile from the park entrance. My wife and I love running the trails, but when we want a full day of hiking with great views, lunch breaks and hard work, we travel to Jones Gap or The Blue Ridge Parkway.
This state park is a mere 15 minute drive from the downtown area. It's scenic views and hiking trails are a pleasant distraction from the weekly grind. You feel like you have left the city, yet you are close enough to go for lunch after a morning hike.
We have hiked all the many trails which range from the strenuous Sulphur Springs to the more sedate lap around the lake. Inbetween are the trails from the hilltop parking area and trail heads such as the Brissy ridge trail. The area is perfect for a 2-3 hour hike with varied terrain and trails which I have never seen crowded, particularly if you start before noon. We have enjoyed many picnic lunches down at the lower lake after a hike down from the top and are always certain to find a tranquil spot somewhere to just sit and relax.A true gem just outside the city.
There is a wonderful light display for Christmas every year. You drive through and then you are able to stop and visit Santa's Village. Lots of fun for the kids.
I love going mid Spring because you get to see the Musk and Slider turtles, the flowers all abloom and the fresh air is just invigourating and rejuvinating. My children love the slides and playground and the swimming area is nice. It's a great place for a family gathering or just a picnic. I'd love to go camping here one year as well.
We have hiked and camped here many times. The campground is small enough that it never feels crowded and has very good amenities. The hiking trails are varied for many skill levels. The lake has a swimming area, canoe, paddleboat, and kayak rentals. Many people enjoy mountain biking on the trails. This is a great park located so close to downtown Greenville.
Beautifully maintained, well varied, gorgeousness. Minutes from downtown. Great nature hikes, learning opportunities, nice rangers. A real gem.
very scenic view,we like the long trail,we just walk and go on the top of the hill, words cannot explain what we feel..amazing view!
Whenever I visit family in Greenville area, I look forward to trail runs at Paris Mountain State Park! It is my favorite place to trail run although there are lots of roots, etc to trip you up and last week with the fallen leaves I did take a bad fall. So be extra careful in the fall when leaves are on trail! There are lots of trails and combinations of trails to make your hike/run as long or short as you want. Sulphur is one of my favorites. It is about a 4 mile trail and if I want to go further I add in some of Firetower and/or Brissy. Lots of people mountain bike there too and there are organized mountain bike and trail run events thru out the year.
Nice easy trail around the lake-there are many other trails as well. Fantastic falls at end of lake over a dam and spillway. The autumn colors were spectacular and created a wonderful reflection on the lake. The visitor's center/gift shop is a must see just for the construction of the building. A cute addition is the bird house constructed in the same style. While my visit was very peaceful and serene it might be noiser in the summer due to the availability of paddle boats, and kayaks and swimming area.
