This part of town is great for walking and visiting shops. Many great places to eat as well. The minor league baseball park is here also. There are high end restaurants as well as neighborhood hangouts. When in the Greenville uptown area don't miss walking (or talking the free trolley) down to the west end. This is also where Falls Park is located.
I am in awe of what developers have done to create this part of "town". The baseball park, the wonderful restaurants, the neat shops, art galleries, all within easy walking distance . Congratulations to the city of Greenville ~
The West End is growing by leaps and bounds. When I first moved here 14 years ago there want's much in this area. Now we have the baseball park, numerous restaurants and shops, and even a coffee shop. Take time to walk around to visit all the different shops while you're in this area. All the restaurants are great!
Looks like they are trying to add more shops and places to eat here. Loved all the artsy stuff and cooking stores.
I go to the restaurants in the west end more than anywhere else in town. Very easy to find free parking, and very likely something for every taste here. Also includes the ballpark, which can make parking crowded during the summer.
We have been visiting Greenville for 30+ years and after a gap of 10 years have just returned. The city government must be congratulated on one of the most impressive downtown transformations we have seen. Restaurants, bars, independent shops, river aspect, it is quite sensational. Greenville is now a resort destination.
This part of town is working very hard to come back after a few years of being quiet. Several new restaurants and art galleries, houses being revitalized …..the Art Bomb is located in the West End and it seems to have started the whole resurgence of the area coming back!
this area is totally rare...hilly sidewalks, streams..water falls. most unique walking bridge in the USA..wildlife....excellent restaurants....great place to spend a few hours on the weekend!!
The pioneers of the 1980's who speared the forward vision of the West End with financial, historical and hands-on tenacity', deserve the recognition and gratitude of all who follow. This area was amuck with street vagrants. Panhandlers, drunks, thieves and more until several committed Greenvillians decided to make it change and change it did. No international developer needed here. Clever shops, interesting art centers, fun eateries, and chic coffee shops beckon if you can find a place to park. More police presence is recommended so it remains at all times, family friendly. Street art shows are the best draw!
Very impressed with Greenville's West End. I'm not sure what it looked like before the West End was conceived but it looks like it was probably a total revitalization. There are an impressive array of shops and restaurants and the area is very walkable. Parking is a little challenging depending on when you are there and it can also be a congested and slow moving area. I'd love to see them close off part of the area to cars and allow some street vendors to come in. Still, Greenville has done a great job with this area and I highly recommend.
