Have to get out of the weather? Then head on over to the Conservatory and wander through the tropics, desert, and backyard settings. Check out the Bonsia collection and the Palm house.
Simply a delightful experience for all your senses! Wonderful to be visually stimulated by all the varieties of stunning orchids while soaking up the warmth and humidity since the outdoor temps were below freezing!
Wonderful place to see wildlife, beautiful gardens, take a class, take a date, the family and take a walk with your dog. We visit every day!
Tropical environment in the dead of winter! Easy access from downtown, right on Broad Street. Historic beautiful architecture. If you come to visit Columbus, this is a very worthwhile sidetrip.
I have enjoyed going to the Franklin Park Conservatory for multiple events and with a variety of folks. I've held staff meetings here and taking my family for a special event. We enjoy looking at the variety of plants in the different zones. It is always fun to go to the Butterflies and Blooms program...it is quite beautiful to see the butterflies and be immersed in the area with them.In addition, I highly recommend checking out their website for special exhibits and events. We have gone during Easter when our daughter was able to make crafts, during a chocolate program which was quite yummy and educational, etc.
This annual event is the best that the Conservatory has to offer. The stages of the butterfly are shown from egg to caterpillar to pupa to adult. Once the insect emerges from its chrysalis and its wings are allowed to dry, these beautiful jewels are released in the tropical biome for guests to admire and take pictures. This is a good place for families to come and hane fun.
The flowers are always amazing, the rooms that represent different climates are beautiful, and it always smells wonderful. A great place to go any time of year!
This is such a beautiful place to do photos of the kids or the family. When we were there my daughter loved the fact that a butterfly landed on her shoulder while she was having her photo taken. After we got the kids and family photos done we had a nice time looking at all the different flowers, plants and butterflies. Great place for a rainy day.
We visited the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens on several occasions. In February 2015, they added orchids in many parts of the existing plantings to give a spark of color and interest in a cold winter day. The open atrium area which includes snacks with tables and chairs is a great place to rest. We saw several families with babies in strollers. Our four year old granddaughter enjoyed the booklet given to children which asks them to look for clues throughout the exhibit.
I have been here many times, and I always find something new. This botanical garden costs only $13 per adult for admittance. Very well managed with some of the most beautiful orchids and desert plants you will ever see on the inside, and thousands of lilies, tulips, and other bulbous plants outside. Be sure to visit the Blooms and Butterfly exhibit in the Pacific Island room, where every day at 1 PM and 3PM you can witness live butterflies from Asia and Central/South America being released just hours after they emerge from their cocoons. Also, if you can afford it, this place offers corporate receptions and weddings!! One of Central Ohio's gems!
