Like other reviewers have said, Sunlight is a great ski resort for family and first time skiers. It's just right for kids learning how to ski. You can't find more reasonable prices anywhere else in CO that I know of. We wanted our 6 year old daughter to learn how to ski, as she had never skied before. So, the first lady who we encountered was very nice, her name was Shei. She understood that my daughter was scared and just needed my presence just until she felt comfortable with the whole situation. Well, Shei left to go do something and in comes Margaret, she was the rudest, meanest lady I think I have ever encountered. She told me that I needed to just "move along". I tried to explain to her that I would "move along" once my daughter was comfortable with it. She told me that we were going to go outside and have a talk. I hesitated, but thought I would just humor her and outside she proceeded to basically yell at me and tell me that I was not allowed to stay and that I needed to "move along". I was trying to explain that I told my daughter that I wouldn't leave her until she was ok. She kept interrupting me and wouldn't hear me out. I told her that if I can't stay until my daughter is not in tears (my daughter was crying because of being scared for her first time skiing), then we aren't doing the lesson. That is when she backed down a little. I watched my daughter get ready to ski and once again Margaret said, "Are you sure we can't get you to just move along?" I said " Ma'm I told you that I am not leaving until my daughter is ok with me not being here." She didn't say anything. I should have just took her out, but we don't get to a ski area often and I didn't know when we would have had another chance. At some point during all this Shei came back and tried to explain to Margaret that she had told me it was ok and Margaret was very rude to Shei and told her "no we aren't doing that". Then, after my daughter's lesson was over she said she liked the skiing but the instructors, Bobby and Josh yelled at her and were mean. We will never do the ski school here again. If you think you can just teach your kiddos to ski, that's what you should do, there are plenty of "bunny slopes" that you can go on. Shei was so kind and nice and did an awesome job of customer service. She should get a raise! She was nice, friendly, understanding and caring.
My first visit to your resort. I loved it! Our guide Ty was TY-TASTIC. Though I'd never been on a snowmobile before, Ty gave me the confidence to ride and took us on a great trail ride. I will be back again.
My husband and I recently went on the 2 1/2 hour tour with my parents. Seriously, the best experience we could have asked for. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking!! Our guide Ty was hands down the best!!! We will be back!!
Very worth the break from skiing and the drive from snowmass. Snowmobiling in fresh powder on March 4, 2015. We took the Adventure Ride with Ty and AJ with our family of 8. It was definitely worth the drive from Snowmass. Visiting from out of state, we enjoyed the ride through the trails of the White River National Forest seeing over 30 miles of beautiful scenery. Would definitely do it again!
I recently had the pleasure of going on a 2 1/2 hour snowmobiling adventure, led by Ty, the amazing guide for our tour. From the very beginning, he made sure we would be taken care of & would have an absolute blast in the process. He took the time to make sure everyone was comfortable on their machine, walked you through all of the basic/necessary steps and was patient with everyone until we were all confident. The next 2 1/2 hours were some of the most fun I've ever had! Our group consisted of those with considerable experience to those with absolutely zero, and everyone was thoroughly impressed with Ty, the equipment, and the beautiful scenery we were able to experience by taking this trip. I can't recommend it highly enough!! Sign up for the adventure tour, you won't be disappointed.
We have never skied until visiting Sunlight. My daughter (13), My son (11), and myself had lessons. My daughter had Taylor and he did a great job. She was skiing down the green runs the first day. Larry taught me. My son is physically disabled and in a wheelchair. Joe Sims was incredibly helpful in coordinating adaptive equipment to enable him to ski. My son had Adam B. all three days and I can sing his praises all day long. He was professional, encouraging, kind, and an amazing instructor for Josh. There were two other helpers for him to get on and off the lifts that were also amazing- Sara and Matt. I can not express my gratitude enough to each of them. The staff at this place, as a whole, are friendly and helpful. It is a great place to learn and we plan to go back because of them and the family friendly atmosphere. It is a beautiful place. They have a great rental ski shop there too. They were also helpful and a fun group . Just a note about wheelchair access. They have accessible parking which takes you to the area for adaptive skiing. However, only saw stairs that takes you to the deck an dining area. No elevator. We will be back. Highly recommend it.
WOW...Breathtaking scenery and high adventure wrapped into one! My husband and I and adult children had the pleasure of the 2 1/2 hr Adventure snowmobile tour with TY. His passion for the sport exudes and makes everyone feel very comfortable. The instructions before starting were very thorough. We had a group of 8 snowmobiles, but Ty made you feel like you were the only one there. The scenery was absoutely gorgeous. There were miles through the forest where you rode through evergreens ladened with snow on both sides and times where you opened up to meadows that glistened with snow. About half way through the tour, we stopped in an open meadow and were given the opportunity to ride wide open on our own.Our family came here several yrs. ago and we did the 1 hr snowmobile tour. It was a blast and we knew we had to return. After doing both, I would HIGHLY recommend the 2 1/2 Adventure tour...and request TY....You will not be disappointed. Thank you Ty for your patience and great attitude and for sharing your love and passion for snowmobiling. The time on tour with you was by far my favorite experience! Debbie, NC
My whole family was spending the week at Snowmass Ski Resort and decided to check out Sunlight for the snowmobiling tour. We were not disappointed! The hour-long drive to get to Sunlight was totally worth it. Both Ty and AJ were our guides for the tour and did an amazing job. Their enthusiasm for the sport is super contagious!! Their excitement and knowledge informed every moment and made the experience unforgettable. Could not have asked for better guides and a better afternoon! I highly recommend it for your next family adventure!
There are not enough words to describe the experiences of snowmobiling at Sunlight. The natural beauty and fresh fallen snow were indescribable but the overall adventure was completed by the expert customer service of the entire staff and our professional, personal guide TY! He provided exceptional care, comfort and compassion before, during and after our tour. He made sure we were completely prepared from head to toe - inside and out. . . . His passion for the sport transferred into complete compassion for his clients. I recommend the services and experience to anyone visiting or living near the Glenwood Springs area. . . and if you haven't ever snowmobiled - you will LOVE IT! Thank you Ty for believing in me and making it a life changing experience. ROBIN W
