This small museum actually was the first piece of civilization in Nevada. It was a store that had supplies for those pioneers who had made it across the desert and were now contemplating heading over the Sierra Nevada mountains. The museum had lots of historical memorabilia and was quite interesting. I love history so felt I added to my knowledge. The cost is $1 per person. There are no bathroom facilities in this museum.
A lot to see for a quaint little town. Well worth the time for a visit, and don't forget the cemetery, or the oldest saloon in Nevada.
Lynne, the guide, does a terrific job of taking you through the history of Genoa making many of the characters of the past come to life. She will spend as much time as you like showing you everything inside. It is well worth the nominal $1 to give you a real sense of the 1850's and why Genoa was such an important stop on the way to the California gold mines.
Very Nice historical information, cool shade to enjoy under the summer sun. What's not to like! Modest admission fee.!!!
Enjoy music at the Mormon Station State Park, The Carson City Chambers Singers, The Reno Philharmonic Symphony , many more events that brings your 4th of July to life. So many talented musicians, Entertainers, will perform for you, free of charge.
Friendly staff ready to share their great knowledge. The park is a well-used and pretty place. The history was interesting--a Pony Express stop.
The museum was closed but we did enjoy walking the grounds. It's a lovely park like setting. Lots of interesting historical markers to read.
This mall state park is a great place to spend an hour or so looking around. Parking is free and is the use of the park. There are great new picnic tables and BBQ pits. There is even a grand gazebo for large groups and events such as weddings. The restrooms are super clean and nice and not all stinky!
Very mush of interest and the workers were so helpful and nice.....So much to learn about the Mormons and and how the got there .All the pictures were very telling of the life they lived too.
This is a tiny little museum, but more than worth a stop and the princely sum of $1 to see the displays. The staff was unusually knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history and stories of the pioneers that came here. Their information and friendliness made this a memorable stop. Linger awhile underneath the big tree and contemplate the feeling the travelers had before they started their wagons up the Sierras!
