Downtown Georgetown is very scenic and we went there last weekend just to hang out on the front sidewalk which has bistro tables, sit in the sun and drink wine. Asked to buy a bottle of wine and was told they won't sell by the bottle unless you are a wine club member and agree to buy at least $200 a year. So instead for a $14 bottle of wine you pay double by the glass. Policy sucks. Still a good place with decent wine. But that policy needs to change.
Nice seating area for wine tasting, it was $8 for four large tastings, which one could be the port wine. Make sure to try one on the ports, I tried the cherry chocolate port, tried it with the chocolate that they gave me, it was wonderful. They also have oil and vinegar tastings. They also had cheese you can buy to have with a glass of wine. Georgetown is a cute town with gift shops, restaurants, antiques, and arts and craft shops.
We were greeted by the friendly employees as soon as we entered and sat at a darling wine barrel table to do our tastings. They have a wide variety of wines to taste including unusual wines such as a jalepeno wine-how fun! We enjoyed all the tastings and even had a nice time tasting all the wonderful selections of balsamic vinegars and flavored oils they offer. The store was almost full on a Monday afternoon so others must like it as much as we did. This is a very comfortable and welcoming place to visit. If you are a wine snob you may want to go elsewhere but if you want an entertaining time trying a wide variety of wines in a charming atmosphere -then go to Georgetown Winery.
The wines were ok. But loved the oils and vinegar they have a chocolate jalapeño balsamic that's wonderful. Stop by and give em a try. And pizza place around corner is really good
Had a wonderful time with my niece, wine, balsamic sauces, rosemary olive oil and of course the appetizers. We had a great time tasting and visiting and never felt we were being pressured to leave. I recommend this stop ... wine drinker or not...
Whenever I have friends or family visit, we go to the winery, and enjoy the wine. The weekend entertainment is quality also. Great place to stop in any day, and easy to get to. Its also pleasant to walk around the cute downtown square. At Christmas time the whole area is beautiful. Also good place to pick up a bottle or wine, or olive oil,or other cute gifts.
May 2014 in pouring down rain, we stepped off the GT square to get some relief at the GT Winery. We ordered the 'tasting' with crackers and cheese tray, wound up buying some local wines and had a wonderful 3 hours there. Staff was patient with us instead of snobby like another wine tasting place on the same square. By the time the tasting samples were done, I found out there ARE wines that a Scotch drinker can learn to love. Thanks to great staff, husband and wife team, who helped us at every turn.
A must stop. Great wines, service and location. Tastings are 4 - $10. 2 oz tastings each. Huge selection made in Georgetown Texas
This winery is nice, went in and purchased two bottles to bring home of the peach and white. The inside is cute and definitely a place to spend an early evening.
We were excited when the Georgetown square was no longer a "dry" area. We stopped in a few times as it can get busy, every time service has been good and very friendly. I am not 100% sure where they get there grapes or the juice of the grapes to make the wine from. We have just heard from other wineries. Stop in and relax, you will have a good time
