We opted to tour the park in our own car. The animal food is a little pricey, $8, but it was enough for 2 boys to share for the whole tour. All the animals were easy to see and easy to feed. You can spend as much or as little time here as you choose. It's a very good way to spend an afternoon. Be sure to take drinks and snacks for everyone in the car.
Great place we enjoy it every year ! Never gets old ....employers are nice place is clean ....and most of all kids loved it!
My husband and I just returned from Fossil Rim. We took our 18 month old and did the scenic drive; which you do on your own. We had the place to ourselves and had a neat time seeing all of the different animals- who are NOT shy about coming right up to your vehicle for some food! Make sure you get at least one bag of food to give to them. We used our sun roof to toss it out most of the time. I would recommend this for anyone who loves animals- it is so nice they get to roam and get along so well with one another; something us humans could learn! The views are great.
A great family outing. We liked it all, no dislikes. Next time we want to do the early morning tour when the animals are out and moving around.
I had not been to this kind of think since I was a kid in California. I was planning of going to the Dino park in the area until I saw this listing in my AAA travel book. Glad I did! To have the animals come up to your car wanting the food they sell at the ticket place was great!. Its like a 3.2 miles drive through it. It will take you 2 hrs minimum without cars around!
Prices were higher today due to spring break. Total waste of money. We sat and sat and sat in lines. Didn't feed any animals. Saw giraffes but a worker said "sorry but they are too full to feed". We saw more employees throughout the park than we did animals. So $60 and 5 hours later we are very disappointed
Please save your money. I went into this knowig it would be packed for a weekend. That wasn't my issue. To pay $70 ($20 for a 3 year old) and not get to see one animal near my truck Becuase the staff shooed them away to speed up traffic was my issue. I sat dead stop for 40 minutes watching all the vehicles infront of me getting to feed the zebras. When my turn came the staff member ran the animals off to speed up traffic. This happened 3 times with 3 different animals. And when we got to the exit. It took an hour to move through the exit Becuase there is only one lane and everyone was stopping for one osterich. I wouldnt go here again and spend that much money to have my son ask if we could leave half way through. Save your money.
We are so glad you had a great trip. We are non-governmental and a not-for-profit, so that is why our prices are where they are at. While we wish we could lower them, the public is what keeps this place up and running and able to aid in conservation. Again, thank you for your support and come and visit us again soon! If you will be back again this year, a membership might be the way to go - it pays for itself in just 2 visits and you get unlimited admission throughout the year including other discounts and benefits. If interested, we can apply your receipt from yesterday to your membership if you give a call today! Thanks again!
When we arrived, the lines were long because it was spring break but we lucked out and got through the park in 2 hours. The Overlook Cafe had decent food. We fed many animals and I have to say, even though we got through early, the traffic was TERRIBLE. I would come here again, just not in spring break or when it's burning hot.
Fossil Rim Wildlife Center is one of my favorite places. If you go early in the morning when it is cool you will see many of the animals out eating. They tend to hide in the shade as it gets hotter during the day and it becomes a game of hide and seek trying to find them! You are able to purchase food so that you can experience hand feeding the wildlife. A huge highlight to just about anyone that goes. Everyone has their favorite animal. Most go to see and feed the giraffe. There are great photographic chances throughout the nine mile drive. You can stay overnight at the lodge or the safari camp, both are wonderful. The staff has guided tours that you can take if you just want to enjoy the experience and not have to drive yourself.
