The shows at the Wood are varied and amazing. The Adirondack Theatre Festival is here every summer and they bring in stars from all over. It's a great place to check out. A real treasure Glens Falls is blessed to have.
Music, plays, great events of all types in a small venue where you can actually see the performers expressions. Feel like part of the performance. Not to be missed!
I had the pleasure of visiting the Charles Wood Theater last night for ATF's presentation of Heartbreaker (Two Months with Judy Garland). The show was great and the theater was a beautiful old classic. I felt like I had stepped back in time. The theater is small, but that is half of its charm. Every seat in the house provides a great view and the acoustics are surprisingly good.
We were just at the Jim Brickman concert. It was wonderful. We had front row seats. It was a wonderful concert and the theatre made it feel like he was at our house. We would go again
Visited this theater for the first time. Small. I believe any seat would be good. Easy nearby parking. Concession with some tables. Beverages...not sure if there was alcohol offered. Biscotti, local candy. clean bathrooms. Ticket prices very fair. We saw "The Whale". It was very well done. All the actors were great. One of those plays you keep thinking about. Glens Falls is lucky to have this venue.
The Charles R Wood Theater is a real treasure in downtown Glens Falls. It features an lovely, restored, intimate theater where you can see show and musicians. There's more to the Southern Adirondacks than just Woods, lakes, Trailer parks, dude ranches and rodeos
A very nice theater (8 years old) in an old Woolworth store on the Main drag in Glens Falls. Every seat is a good seat, but my only problem is the seats are too close together. I am 6’2” tall and I did not have enough leg room. My knees were crunched into the seat in front of me making it extremely uncomfortable. I eventually got up and stood in the rear of the theater to watch the remaining portion of the show.
We live in Glens Falls and have seen numerous productions at the Wood since it opened. Yes, Adirondack Theatre Festival has made the Wood Theatre its home and is an outstanding company, offering a wide variety of productions during the Summer. During the rest of the year, the Wood Theatre hosts a number of local and regional groups that offer live theatre, dance and music. The Theatre is an excellent facility and provides people in the communities surrounding Glens Falls and Warren County with a great venue for live performances such as an upcoming " Shrek The Musical", The Glen Miller Orchestra, and "50 Shades, The Musical" as well as what is billed as an annual Thanksgiving weekend homecoming of a "local kid made good" Tony DeSere! Another annual event is the Adirondack Ballet Theaters 's holiday production of The Nutcracker. All wonderful reasons to include Wood Theatre in your vacation plans to Northeast New York at any time of the year!!!
I have been to this theater for plays, musical attractions, etc.and have enjoyed them all. While it is not a very large theater, I can honestly say it is the perfect size. You can always see the stage no matter where you sit and the sound is always perfect. It also has a lovely consession area for intermission. My only complaint is where the ladies room is, but they have no control over that. It is down the basement at the far end, so ladies....don't wait too long before you really have to go (if you know what I mean).
have attended a number of productions - have always enjoyed them - but only major concern i have is the cramped seating - there is NOT a lot of leg room - and if a play is very long, you have a seated reminder - if you need more leg room, be sure to book in the balcony where you can move your seating or on the front row
