We attended an outdoor wedding here. The scenery was a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony. The reception was held indoors and was wonderful as well. The next day my husband and son golfed the course. It rates as one of the top three courses for my son, who is rather picky when it comes to golf!
This is a very fun course. I am a 14 handicap and at a few of the tee boxes I had to laugh at what I saw. We play, do not drink when we play, and this was a fantastic course. I hope I can play it again. Small greens, obstacles you need to navigate around, false fronts, this had it all. Loved it, Recommend it, Tell your friends. One of the most fun courses I have played.
Go early for dinner, before everyone gets off the course. The food is good- especially the appetizers. The wait staff is very helpful and even generous, comping premium drinks after Happy Hour, giving samples. The building itself is likes museum- check out the dinosaur bones! Lots of parking, easy to get to. golf is expensive but world class!
Was dragged here by some friends for an outing. It was a great day and the experience was wonderful. They do a very nice job of maintenance of the facilities and of the course itself. The course is beautiful to play - great views on most holes. It's a little tougher than most public courses, but well worth the extra effort. Also, they have a restaurant called Three Tomatoes that we have been too many times. Great food there.
This golf course is beautiful. It was perfectly maintained, the staff is very welcoming and friendly and the views are just spectacular. One hole is more interesting than the next. There is a structure in the middle of one of the first holes that you have to play around and there are boulders in the center of another which makes for really interesting play. Water comes into play on a few holes for the men but the forward tees get a really nice break on just about every hole. We have played on many nice resort golf courses and this was as enjoyable as many of the best courses we've played.
Links style course with interesting touches. Two holes were designed with greens at the bottom of very large holes. Maybe 20 feet deep and 100 feet across with the green at the very bottom. Enough water, sand, rocks to keep you at the top of your game.
Very impressed. Well kept golf jewel. Terrific condition. Some EXTREMELY challenging holes. Pretty,,,,,,and pretty tough. One of the nicest courses in Colorado.
If you have never experienced golf at Fossil Trace, you are missing out on a treat! My (women) foursome was the first foursome to play on its opening day, and after the round, I think all 4 of said the same thing, "WOW", was that fun or what?! I won't give away all the obstacles and amazing challenges on the various holes, just know, BRING PLENTY OF BALLS!! This course is not for everyone - especially newbies to golf, and some of you PRO type golfers who may think some of holes are not up to your 'par', but if you enjoy challenging greens, and beautiful views, those alone make the round worth it. The food at the restaurant has never been 'up to par' in my book, but, if you are just wanting a snack or lunch it'll do.
This is a beautiful course especially the back nine. It will challenge you but still possible to score well if you play well.Everyone's was very friendly, Marshall's, starter, wait staff. We had a great lunch very reasonable priced on the patio that has a wonderful view of the mountains. Only 20 minutes from Denver. Be sure to have a rain suit in your bag, they get mountain showers but usually over quickly.
The second nine is set amidst fantastic fossil bearing rocks which have been combined with rolling hills to create some fascinating holes. We had to abandon one hole due to a pair of huge elk guarding the green - wonderful. Course is well maintained, but pace of play on a Saturday afternoon was a bit slow. Marshalls and pro shop staff were friendly and helpful.
