We enjoyed the rides, animal/livestock judging, chickens, rabbits, pigs, goats, cows... Very clean and safe, relaxing fair. Love the Old Florida area with music and many crafts demonstrated. Watch several young couples try sawing a log. Very wholesome fun. Free parking. Can order discount tickets in advance.
This is a nice-sized county fair. Plenty of food booths, a medium sized midway a number of exhibits and attractions. The key to enjoying the fair is to obtain a schedule and plan your day. Arrive about 15 minutes before each event to get a good spot and maybe even a seat. One day probably isn't long enough to see everything and a lot of the events do overlap. If you only have one day, check the online schedule and get there just after it opens. (It's not the same every day.) Pick up a schedule just inside the ticket booths and enjoy. If any in your party are planning to send time at the midway, check the midway schedule and purchase a wrist band appropriate to when you plan to arrive and leave.
Fair had a little bit of everything for everyone. Remembering it's a County Fair the prices were reasionable and kept us entertained start to finish. Animals, rides, shows, games, and Fair food!
The food was okay, but in most cases way too expensive/overpriced. Not a lot to offer either. Very few exhibits, animals, barns, food choices, etc.
It's always fun to go and see whatever country artists come! Be sure to check out the Home Arts show and all the livestock.
Covered pavilions sheltered all activities. Just a couple miles out of Green Cove Springs and very good for events in all conditions.
Took my family to the clay county fair. The fair setup was really good. I was very family friendly. Will come back year after year
Going to the Clay County Fair has been a family tradition for us since we moved here 7 years ago. We enjoy everything about it. You can get a great deal for wristbands for the rides, and there are plenty of rides for all age groups. Great entertainment: pig races, frog jump competition, high diving show, magic show, concerts. It can also be an awesome educational trip:learning about farm animals( kids had the chance to feed a baby calf from a bottle),experiencing old Florida though different demonstrations( my daughter learned to weave this year),getting new craft ideas from the wonderful exhibitions.Food is great and of course we always try to win a price in one of the carnival game booths. :)
This place has got to have the most friendliest people running their events. They go over and beyond to accommodate groups. I'm certain it is mostly volunteers as well but they were so cheerful and willing to help. I cannot praise this fairgrounds enough. If only the people in the surrounding community were as nice. They have all covered events, ample parking and decent seating. Bathrooms were actually kept clean for a park. We enjoy this park every year.
Where else can you go and have a blast with a family of 4 that is actually affordable. The fairgrounds have a lot of space so they can spread out so you're not elbow to elbow with people. also
