This place was the only store that stayed open late enough for us to go in after dinner. Everything else is closed up pretty early.....but EVERYONE was at the General Store. We made our way in and looked at all the items they had, such as magnets, t-shirts, hats, and of course many mason jarred goodies. They had samples out of most all of their jelly's and butters and if there was one that wasn't opened, they would take care of that quick. My husband and I bought a t-shirt, a koozie, and of course some fresh dipped blue bell ice cream. it was very fun and an energetic crowd.
We stopped in here to look for some items to collect to put into a Texas themed basket and hit the jackpot! This store had some great treats with the mult-flavor options of butter (the toffee pecan cinnamon one was my favorite), the preserves (black berry was my favorite) and the salsa options were fantastic! It's also a quirky shop with lots of Texas items, an ice cream counter and a novelty of "bacon" themed products that I had to take of pictures of! There was bacon soap, bacon soda, bacon balm, bacon cotton candy, etc. It was cool to see those!!!! Such a fun store!
If you go to Gruene, you must go here. Directly across from the music hall. Tons of shirts, signs, hats, food packages, etc. to buy. A cool tourist trap.
i would not suggest that anybody go there! there ice cream and fudge looks good, but don't eat it!!!the employees never wash there hands and touch everything with there bare unwashed hands and they don't clean the ice cream scoops or cutting knives after using them, they just put it in dirty dish water and re-use it.since iv'e worked there iv'e encountered countless hairs in the ice cream tubs and the main boss lady was very rude and mean to me.the place is dirty, gross, crowded and the person who had hired me and owned the store was the absolute meanest and most rude person i had ever met in my life!!!if you want good custumer service and quaity ice cream and fudge, try somewhere else because this is not the place for you!
This is a good place to get a t-shirt or koozie to remember your visit to Gruene. They have lots of other things there too, like bumper stickers, sauces, and Texas kitch, but buy a Gruene shirt and a koozie for sure.
Tons of tasty treats and Texas gifts to take home. Great salsas and snacks! Folks were very nice and hadsamples flowing to help you decide what suits your fancy.
We stopped by general store in Gruene and enjoyed the throwback quirky store! We roamed and enjoyed all kinds of stuff and bought a few treasures to bring home. If you're in Gruene, check it out.
"General store" in the historic downtown of Gruene. Kind of touristy for my taste, but a decent stop for postcards or if you have to bring souvenirs back. Fair amount of Texas-stamped products, plus local (?) goods like flavored honey butters.
During our round trip in Texas, we always visit the general store of every town we passed, also here in the gruene. It's always fun to see all the things they have in the store. You will feel back in your childhood when you see the old fashioned candy and sweet
Pretty crowded! But the building is unique. Should be able to find all the souvenirs you want! Homemade fudge, ice cream, candies, etc. available but we did not partake. Looked great!
