This is a great place for adults and children to relax and enjoy a nice Fall Day. You can bring your lunch or snacks and relax with the kids or grankids. The town is nicely done and very realistic. You can spend the day so don't rush.
The Farmer's Museum is a great attraction with very interesting exhibits, highlited by one of the best merry-go-rounds you will find. The animals on the MGR represent different areas of the State of NY and the ladies who operate it have cascinating tales about different areas of the state.
We stopped here because we were in town for a Glimmerglass production and didn't know what else to do during the day since we aren't baseball fans.I confess my expectations were looooooow, but was I ever surprised. I had quite a good time there exploring the many "living" exhibits, and chatting away with the interpreters who stayed in character the entire time. We learned that many of the items manufactured there by hand are actually sold to the public beyond the borders of the little village. There was a Civil War re-enactment going on while we were there, which we found a little funny, but also entertaining. I think smaller kids would be more than captivated by the place (not so teenagers) and found it to be well worth the price of admission.
Ended up here because we ran out of other things to do. We really enjoyed it! It's a step back in time and interactive. I didn't think it would keep our boys 10 & 8 engaged but they liked it.
Beautiful buildings, pastoral setting, friendly staff, interesting exhibits of live animals, crocks, old tools and farm equipment. Carousel something to behold, lovely! Worth seeing. Now closed for the season until spring.
After the Fenimore and Hall of Fame, we needed a place where the kids could unwind a little. The hands on activities are great for the kids and the parents. Well worth the visit.
Its a three for me really, but a four because they do a really great job. If u like this kind of thing itll be a five. If your in town (which is lovely). And close to the Otesaga. Have a snack and drink on the veranda over looking the lake.
This "museum" is an actual working village of the 1800's. It is an eye-appealing attraction and an educational experience rolled into one. The museum staff are friendly and well-informed. The museum itself is worth seeing and what you learn from the staff brings the village to life. There is ample parking, restroom accommodations throughout, a snack bar and a great gift shop. If you plan to visit Cooperstown, make sure to allow time for a stop at the Farmer's Museum.
Went during the week and it wasn't crowded. So nice to walk around at our own pace and see the demonstrations. The staff was very friendly and answered any questions we had.
There isn't so much to do in Cooperstown and this is one of the main things. It is really done well and the whole family can enjoy the visit. It is educational and interesting.
