We would love to return to hike the trails in the park. Well maintained and beautiful. Need to return here when the leaves change. Watched 4 deer working their way through the park.
Serene and beautiful scenery. Beach is very clean with lots of benches to sit on if you don't want to sit on the beach.
The campsite is like a circular space with a picnic table that could seat 6 (8 putting chairs on each end), a spot for a tent, and a hole in the ground with a large grill over it. The grill is low to the ground, not one that stands upright to cook on. There are other sites right near each other, so if they are full, you will see people there, hear them, etc. With us, there was a family with small children, one who screamed and cried most of the night, shining lights around... It rained when we were there and the ground became extremely muddy. there was no platform for the tent, so if it rains, it does make it messy. Site #49 is furthest from everyone, so only #48 is near there, while 48 is near 49, 47, and 46.... Also, there is a porta-potty that is about a 1-2 minute walking distance from these sites. It's about a 7 minute walk to the beach/water area, and you can walk up to Hyde Hall (probably about a 10-15 minute walk from the campsites). If you like swimming, there is the lake and a small beach area there. The views are beautiful. Hope this helps!
We hadn't planned to go to the park, but had extra time one afternoon- it ended up being one of the main highlights of the trip. Serene beauty- not to be missed.
My wife and I went to Glimmerglass State Park on the scenic Lake Otsego. There is a great beach from which I launched my kayak. There are modern, clean rest rooms and picnic areas.
Beautiful location on a very nice and clean lake. Great facilities for a State Park. It's a bit of a drive from Cooperstown but well worth it.
Went here for an afternoon on our last day in the area. I am glad that I did, It was a sight to see. Weather wasn't very agreeable, but the kids had fun playing around. You will need to bring charcoal if you want to cook out. Grill aren't very big but no big deal for us. You can't get any more beautiful.
Beautiful views, quiet in late September. We loved sitting, watching the sunset. Lots of wildlife and beautiful fall colors.
We visited this park to hike its two mile trail on the shoulders of sleeping mountain -- a wide, well-maintained loop trail throughout, with a few hundred feet of altitude change, more gradual and a bit less steeper going up than coming down -- so the farther starting point, where there is parking at the trailhead, is the place to start. It's mostly oak forest, remarkably open (little understory) although that changes a bit when you reach the flat region at the top of the climb, where you cross the shoulder to descend by another ridge.Saw lots of people having a good time at the ebach and around picnic tables, not why we were there. There's a $7 admission.
such a beautiful lake. the settings and restaurants around the lake are excellent but expensive. Very disappointed that refills on soft drinks and tea were charged per refill. I have never encountered that type of charge before. Is this a NEW York THING?
