The walk up the hill the view of the city. An so much to see really pretty You can go walking the top of hill and see the sites.
I believe citadel hill is absolutely beautiful. With a piece of history in every corner it's a great place to explore and do a bit of learning. The guided tours are educational and well put together. Fun for the whole family!
Great way to spend your day if you like to read and learn about the past in military. Huge amounts of info to read on the war, including, regiments, army officials, weapons, bunkers, etc.The museum demonstrates real live demos of cannon shootings, troop alignments, etc...
The Halifax Citadel is a very important part of the history of Halifax. It is downtown and should be a must for all visitors.Well worth the visit.
Visited here just before mid day. The cannon fired and nearly jumped me out of my skin! It set the tone for the visit and wandering around at such cold temperatures just made one realise the conditions it must have been like back in the day. This historic site gives you a good basis for the history of the area. Walking down the hill my face was freezing, but I had all the modern gear on to keep me warm. Just imagine what it would have been like in the past.
Beautiful spot - great fortress architecture, lovely view of the whole city, well done movie, cool changing of the guards 'ceremony', interesting exhibits. Wheelchair available in greeting area across the square from the entrance.
Wonderful historic view of the city of Halifax and Halifax Harbour, from here you can view the busy city, but step back into history with the Guards standing at attention. There are many viewing spots and information to read, and tour guides to explain the past. The 'flags' which played such an important part of this shipping area's past still fly at the Citadel. Worth a trip for sure
This was one of the best historic sites I have visited. The staff were engaging, the site was well maintained and the historic value was informative. The firing of the canon at noon was a highlight and the views of the harbour and the surrounding city were brilliant.
Explored around the site just last week. Was after a big snowstorm so alot of it was closed but very cool. I plan on returning durring the summer to really have a look around.
This is a must see and explore. See the fort, bring a picnic. Fire the noon gun. Explore the ramparts and the dark corners where famous people have been imprisoned.
