I was amazed at the amount of wines this place offered at their tasting/wine pairing and how many that I really liked. I had to slim my list down to just 6 to take home. Very beautiful winery inside and the outside setting.
I came with my husband for the Valenwines Weekend and Armstrong Valley was by far our favorite. We were told that we could try whatever we wanted, which was very generous. The staff was extremely knowledgable and they even suggested mixing a few wines together to make new concoctions! It was excellent! Along with their wonderful chocolate pairings they also had a local cheese maker on property to sample her goods as well. It was truly an excellent experience. We were very pleased.
We stopped by during one of the craft shows that they had going over a recent weekend. Good food, plenty of craft stuff and some good wine to be had. We bought several bottles to take home with us. Pricing was good too!
We went to this winery last night. On Fridays, in the summer, they have live music on the lawn. Nice tables and chairs are laid out where you can bring your own food and non-wine drinks. The winery is only two years old but has a large selection of wines that they offer samples of. The quality of the wine is excellent. There were several hundred people on the lawn enjoying a nice night out.
I was here for the Sweet Sensations event and I found the staff behind the tasting tables to be rather rude. They didn't give much info about the wines and barked at me to go to a different table when I inquired about their fruit wines. I was not impressed and will not return. Very pretty area though.
We visited during the Susquehanna Wine Trail Event Nouveau Weekend. My husband and I tried almost every wine. They just kept pouring samples. They even showed us how mixing some of the wines would taste. Loved it. They even have someone who makes jellies out of the wines. We will be back again. Thank you!
The winery was opened daily while others had limited hours. We walked into the tasting room and there were already four people who had arrived just before us. We tasted five wines and purchased three bottles. The staff person conducting the tasting was knowledgeable about the wines, and very friendly. Afterward, we strolled through the vineyard property before heading back to Mechanicsburg where we were staying.
If you love sweet, semi sweet and fruit wines , then Armstrong Valley is the "JACKPOT" of wineries to visit. They offer 30+ wines, with the majority being sweet/fruit. We recently made our 1st visit with other family members and had a truly wonderful afternoon. The winery is located about a hour and 45 minutes north of Frederick , MD and worth the trip. Something the winery did which we found to be different, but really a fantastic way to do tastings [ probably due to their extensive wine list] is that they step up three separate tasting stations, fruit , sweet/semi-sweet and dry. It enabled you to enjoy exactly what you wanted, and the tasting's were complimentary. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful and truly seen to it that you enjoyed yourself by making you feel very welcome. The day of our visit they had an area set up to make grape vine wreaths for the holidays, which the ladies in our outing had a great time doing [at no cost, no less] and had a local dairy there selling cheeses and local meats, which we did purchase and enjoy while there. The wines are all reasonably priced, and with so many choices had no problem purchasing a case of different varieties to take home and enjoy. If you enjoy wineries, then this is the one to put on top of your list.
You did it right! Seven women arrived for the Sweet Sensations event and hands down this was the best we attended. The entire area is so nicely done and the set up was awesome. A table for dry wines, semi dry, sweet and then the dessert table with wine pairings. Thanks for a great time! Hopefully we will return in the future. Your wines are fantastic!
I visited Armstrong Valley Winery during one of their special days. I really had a great time tasting the wines they served and how the building is set up. I would highly recommend anyone who wanted an evening out to go an spend a few hours at the winery. Relax, listen to the music, sip some of their wine, kick back and enjoy yourself.
