I visited Cabela's while I was on a trip to Hawk Mountain. The store is about 5-10 minutes from the attraction. I don't get to visit Cabela's often but I was there, I love to see the animal exhibits. I took pictures of the Hamburg Cabela's animals to compare with those of the Glendale, AZ store. I can say that Cabela's has everything an outdoorsman or woman needs.
My wife got a really nice winter ski jacket that fit perfectly for $30. As other reviewers have noted, this is a massive store that you could wander through for 2-3 hours. Does seem understaffed for a store the size of a third world city. The kids will love the aquarium. Just a warning to animal lovers: this is a hunting store. There are mounted taxidermied animals everywhere. Normally I don't mind these, but the stuffed African animals I could do without. The African big game hunting and poaching needs to end.
Went there yesterday to buy a sale firearm....waited two hours to complete purchase. Was told that the state treats large stores differently than small guys when the wait time was questioned. Knew an ex-employee who worked in the gun department and he said :"they lied to you"...really? You call that customer service? They made me sit at a computer for an hour. Took five minutes to actually fill out the background check form...then another hour waiting to get in another line to complete the purchase. Waiting and lines! Takes me 10 minutes with my local dealer!!! What is wrong with this place???? My wife was livid and others in line were not happy...was the store busy...NO!! Were there enough people to get us out the door...NO!My wife and I think they wanted us to shop every square inch of the store by making us wait!!!On a positive note....the fish in the aquarium were cool.
Want to buy a gun here? On a slow day we had over a 2 hour wait... AFTER the gun was purchased. I realize they are doing the paperwork and background check, but the customer service is really lacking.Enjoy bringing the grandkids here, but unless you like walking around a store for hours waiting for your number to be called...don't come here
Nice place, and they stock most of the stuff you might need, but since it first opened the prices have drastically went up! Probably wont be going back anytime in the near future.
On our second visit, we paced ourselves a bit. I think we were able to enjoy it more than the first as we chose to relax upstairs with a fresh drink every hour or so. We spent about 4 hours shopping and roaming on a Saturday afternoon. It was fun. It is a big place. Wear comfortable shoes.... I was surprised how much my feet hurt on the ride home.
Cabela's has so much to look at! Displays of taxidermy animals in realistic environments are outstanding. Prices can be a bit steep on clothing and other items, but the quality is great. Worth just wandering around and experiencing at the whole store!
My husband and I like to take an annual trip to go to Cabela's. If you have never been, hold on as it is enormous and also usually packed with shopper's. There are many different things to do here between the aquarium, food court and of course shopping. Worth the trip!
My son loves the animals, atmosphere, and ambiance. Great deals, great food, and scores of like minded people make for an easy hour off the highway to stretch our legs and relax.
We love to take the grandchildren just for the fun of it. This store has it all. The children love the aquarium with all the species of fish as well as the displays of different species of animals from all around the world. It is worth the stop just for a break from your travels or, like us, just for the fun of it. This time around, we stopped at the fishing area for some special information on high-end ultra-light spinning rods and reels. (Love their selection of both). The Salesman was knowledgeable and was an expert in the field. He answered every question and made various suggestions. I have a Cabela fix at least 4 times a year-even if it's an hour drive. If you are not familiar with this store-check out their web site and make it a point to visit.
