While I have the good fortunate to see Sleeping Giant from my family room, the the trek up the trail is well worth itTh view is spectacular.
Awesome hike and view. It's not really that changing as other hiking places. Beautiful view must go!!!
Sleeping Giant is the place to go to hike a variety of trails that range in difficulty from paved, for beginners, to fairly technical, for experienced only. Worth the trip!
I love Sleeping Giant. Some friends and I were hiking it every week during the summer. Love the experienced (blue I think) trail. Very rewarding. Usually well bring a lunch and hike the experienced trail to the castle and eat up there. Very fun.
There are many trails to hike on this spot. An advid hiker, well take the tougher "white" trail and climb a rock face. First time hikers, well take the road to the castle. Great scenic views at all times of the year. Want a family function, use the pavilion with a fireplace. This natural setting is home to many species and on any given day you may just see some work being done to improve the trails for everyone. This is a common Eagle Scout project site for many of the Troops from Hamden and the surrounding communities.
Great place for a day trip. Free to enter and park. Be ready for a long hike to the top! But well worth it. There are less demanding trails available to explore so there is something for every fitness level. The large open field is great if you feel in the mood yo have a picnic and certain days during the summer you can find food vendors at the parks edge.
Really nice to be able to choose your trail based on how serious of a hike you want. It is a beautiful park, and they charge to park during most seasons - plan ahead.
i like the hiking trails and you can walk for hours because it is natural. but if people don't throughout their trash on the ground that would be great.
Was visiting an old friend in the area and she suggested a little day hike. I was not expecting such a pretty park! We hiked up to the castle and wandered around a little. It was a gorgeous day and the trail we chose wasn't challenging at all. Would definitely go back when I'm in town again. Only regret was the lack of an on-site gift shop. I would have loved to have picked up tee shirts on site.
We had a great time hiking at Sleeping Giant State Park. There are lots of trails and they are easy for even younger children. Great spot to spent some time outside with the family.
