The quilt show is always well organized and the meal provided by and catered by the attached Hampton Suites is always outstanding.
Had a wonderful time at the Pet Expo and the location was easy to find and well laid out! There was plenty of parking, and it was located near a lot of fantastic restaurants and parks.
For the prices charged for events these days, it should be criminal for this 1970's dump to still be open!!! From the horrible traffic control in and out, the crumbling parking lots, to the nasty bathrooms and concourse areas, it's out lived itself!!!
This place is magical in the Jam world. GD, Phish, SCI, Disco Biscuits, Further, etc......this place holds a special place in a lot of peoples hearts!!
This event was amazing, Chaka put on a great show! The Coliseum was nice, and well set up. Will come back this October for the Gospel event.
I am not an expert on this, but I do not think that the Hampton Coliseum is the best for a music venue. I know that they have had hundreds there over the years and I've been to a couple, but I'm not sure that it was designed for that purpose.
Great turnout for models. Most people were friendly and pleasant, however there were many who were arrogant and self centered and rude.
My first experience at the Hampton Coliseum was March 17, 1984. This huge place holds so much history for the Hampton Roads area. Everything from big name music acts, to the Harlem Globe Trotters, to Cirque Di Soliel, and any other entertainment you can imagine. The acoustics inside are amazing for sound! I have seen the ins and outs of this enormous building, from the audience, from backstage, and from the walk-around balcony outside. I've never seen renovations happening, personally, but the place is still just as solid and nice as it was back then. Well maintained, I guess. You are easily able to find your way around inside. If you get a chance to see an event here, it's recommended.
Went to the Festival of Praise. Concert was awesome with Donnie McClurkin and Fred Hammond and a few other singers. Our seats were great since we had floor seats, middle section up close. Earlier this year, we were there for Tamala Mann show, floor seats, middle section up closer. The only drawback with sitting so close is the higher stage lights practically blind you, especially when changing colors. Few years back was there for Jazz Festival. Music was great, seating was terrible. So it's either put up with the lights or change seating plan. We rather put up with the lights.
I love the speed of the ushers, location, atmosphere of joy, parking and great establishment!!! I will go again to see something else.
