The Milton Hershey School and Founders Hall is just incredible. The story behind the school, how it was established by Milton Hershey and his wife Catherine is remarkable and how their money and trust funds the school today.
It could be our fault for stopping by when the visitor center was closed but it was just a bit underwhelming. Alot of marble and some beautiful inlay work on the floor but not alot to see, had seen other things in the area that were way more impressive.
The building is absolutely beautiful. Our guide was well informed and friendly. We came away with such respect for Milton Hershey and he and his wife's vision to start this school. The ongoing outcome is amazing.
We had a wonderful tour guide tell us all about the history of Hershey and gave us a very interesting tour of the building (dome and auditorium) It's free! Beautiful grounds and building!
What an amazing place. We stopped by for a tour but unfortunately it was family day that day. We were still allowed to view all the videos and information about the schools. Milton and Catherine Hershey were amazingly generous people. The operation there is truly unreal. Phenomenal opportunity for disadvantage children and families. Milton and Catherine are examples of what other philanthropists should aspire to be.
This is an amazing building. It is so beautiful inside and out. The rotunda is absolutely incredible, though many sources say many different things, it must be one of the largest domes in length in the world. I also really enjoyed the exhibits on Milton and Catherine Hershey. I especially liked seeing some of the furniture from the High Point Mansion, which isnt open to the public. You should definitely visit this.
Very interesting how the school was started and that it is still going strong. We took a tour and found it really interesting. I wish there were more schools like this for children.
It was the second largest rotunda in the world when it was built. Milton gave his entire fortune to fund his program to help children. It is free and worth visiting. The staff their was friendly and welcoming.
Milton hershey school Founder's Hall has entertaining programs in the hall. The students/ residents are talented singers, musicians and academically tops. We go for their concerts, Christmas carols and they serve homemade cookies, coffee, tea and punch. It is so nice to see polite young people having fun and sharing their talents with the public.
We visited this special place during a trolley tour from Hershey World. Milton and Catherine Hershey's love for children and this community lives on in the Milton Hershey School. Their philanthropic philosophy lives on for over 100 years. We were fortunate enough to meet a gentleman who attended the school and lived here in the 1940's. He now volunteers his time in this wonderful school. He shared his experiences with us and his ongoing gratitude for Mr. and Mrs. Hershey. Now when I purchase candy, I look for the Hershey brand, knowing that the profits go to an important program that truly helps our community.
