I took my 3 yr old and 1 year old and they had a blast! It is very cheap for all the actives they have and has a lot of creative things to do for Older kids.
We have taken my daughter to these types of musuems all up and down the east coast. This one is her hands down favorite. It is much smaller than many of the ones we have been too. But it is never too crowded and the quality of the exhibits is excellent. So if your child doesn't like crowds but loves these types of experiences this one is for you!
We visited this museum while staying at the Massanutten Resort and my 3yr old absolutely loved this place and didn't want to leave. We stayed there for 3 hours and he still didn't get bored. Lots of hands on things to do and can even dress up and put on a play. The staff was absolutely amazing.
This was a great place for our 2 kids while we're visiting Massanutten. We thought we would only be in there for 2 hours and were there for longer than that. Lots for them do, different set-ups ranging from a kitchen, an ambulance, a tv news desk, a closed section for those younger than 3, a garage, a theatre stage with dress up cloths, a face painting section and etc. We were also able to leave for lunch and come back without having to pay again. You also able to bring in snacks for the kids as there are tables set-up in the back and a vending machine with healthy snacks. Parents are also able to get tea or coffee at the front for a dollar.
A nice little gem of a place, aimed at kids under the age of 7 or 8, I'd say. I'm glad we didn't skip it - our 6 year old stayed 3 hours and we had to pry her out. Very reasonable admission too - actually, don't wait for it to rain, go anyway. Apparently you can leave and come back in (they don't have food service inside) and while we didn't need to do that, I bet it's a welcome feature.Maybe a bit dull for the grownups, but hey, sometimes you just have to make some nice family memories...
This is a place to take the kids or the grandkids. Very well done exhibits which engage the imagination. One of the best museums and activity centers for children we have seen. Worth a trip to Harrisonburg, and just down the street from an excellent toy shop. The kids will have a ball.
The Explore More Discovery Museum is huge and filled with activities to keep your kids busy. From the news station where they can see themselves on television to the car repair shop, there is something for everyone. My girls love the farmer's market and kitchen, but usually play in every area. It can be loud and crowded, but there are always places to sit out of the way while all the kids energy is released.
Our 2-year old loved it here! There are areas for all ages, from crawlers to elementary kids. The website lists all the activities they have: farm, health, performance stage, garage, etc. We came on a Saturday morning, and by lunchtime it was packed with families. They have a diaper changing area and a nursing chair, which is a nice perk. We would definitely come back.
We take our 4 year old here a few times a year. She really enjoys it. Lots of things the play with an explorer. Parking can be interesting, but a nice walk is always enjoyable.
I cannot say enough great things about the Explore More Discovery Museum in Harrisonburg. I have taken my toddler here countless times on weekends after enjoying the farmer's market and my child just loves it. There are plenty of activities for kids of all ages. The employees are friendly and the facilities are very clean. I highly recommend it for anyone visiting town or if you live here, just go ahead and get a membership.
