It is a small castle located in a stunning area of Massachusetts and situated on beautiful grounds. It is stone built from local stones and over the course of a century it had been burned and gutted. But a foundation rebuilt the insides. The castle itself is a good destination for a castle fan like me but for a casual visitor you should check their website and find out what events they have going on. Visit during an event. I went during a classic car show. They had lots of classic cars, tables, refreshments and a band. So, definitely a place to visit but do it while something is going on.
A local civic group puts on a Halloween carnival/haunted house that is a lot of fun. The haunted house was really scary, possibly too much for children under 10, but older kids/adults would love it. Can't wait to go next year.
I like to walk around the reservation with my dogs. Very safe. The only downside is if you want to walk all around you will have to walk on the street for a little distance. Otherwise, it rocks... me and my dogs love it there! It takes about two hours to walk around.
I enjoy the trails and we also have done some geocaching in the area. It also is a great place for children and for dog walking.
I live in Haverhill so I'm up here a lot walking my dog. There are great trails going all around the lake. Winter sledding and skating are great.
Great place to visit. You can tour the castle, take a walk around the lake or let the kids have a great time at the play area. You can also bike or play tennis!
Interesting structure. Nice view. Worth a quick look-see. Had a wedding here. Hall can be rented. Small venue.
Beautiful grounds to walk around on. My girls like to walk around the outside of the castle and pretend all sorts of things. It's hard not to let the magic creep into your imagination as well.
My whole family runs, walks, bikes and plays here. We love it in every season. There are some fun building ruins in the woods.
Winnekenni Castle is an old stone castle, not very big and unfortunately can only be seen from the outside -- unless you happen to be there for a special event. We were passing through the area on a road trip so naturally we were disappointed not to see the inside.
