We've been to several caverns in the area, including Crystal Cave and Indian Echo caverns. This does not compare. The tour was very short - just about 30min. There aren't a lot of rooms or formations. The tour guide was OK, but needs a few new jokes. The gift shop is cluttered and disorganized. You could have some jewelry made there, but I didn't check out their prices. If you are in the area, and have never been to a cave before, it is OK. Otherwise, not worth a special trip. Luckily for us, it was on the way home.
Not very big but cool once you were inside. A little pricey for what they had. I would say go but don't rush there
The young guy who conducted the cave tour was friendly and knowledgeable. The gift shop was filled with junk and the restrooms were deplorable, but I enjoyed my visit. Maybe they need more visitors to pay for renovations to the restrooms. Yikes!
The tour is over priced and the owners are rude! The cave is basically a crack in the wall, which takes approximately 15 minutes to enter and exit. There are very few geological rock formations and those that do exist are not of any interest. The Gilman children are rude and for some reason when you ask them about the precious stones they have they talk to you in the third person as if you did not know they were talking about themselves, which is weird and creates an uncomfortable situation. Do NOT spend your money at this place! It is better to go to Crystal Cave or Indian Echo Cavern.
If you have never been to an underground cavern before, Lost River Caverns will be an interesting and modest introduction to commercial caverns. However if you have visited any of the more well known caverns in New Mexico, Kentucky or Virginia you will be disappointed. The tour is only 30 minutes in length and costs $12 per adult. The cave formations are few and very modest. Of course any cave is fascinating to a three year old!
we had seen the signs for this cave a number of times since moving to the area, and finally decided to visit. It is a small cave located just south of Bethlehem. It is easy to find off the Main highway in Hellertown. There were tours every half hour in the summer. the waiting room has a number of nice rock exhibits. The tour itself goes through five separate rooms and takes about 45 minutes. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, but there wasn't that much to see. Note that there is a fair amount of slippery walking surfaces, so people with disabilities may have issues here. Ditto with strollers. The tour ends by going through the gift shop/mineral shop. Children will likely enjoy this attraction more than adults, especially if they have never been in a cave before. for adults, the price of $12 each seems very steep for what you see. All three of us agreed that the value for what we paid was not very good. But, if you are in the area and have never toured a cave before, this may be a good stop to make.
My family and I visited here and my 2 year old daughter loved the idea of walking underground and looking at the rocks. The caverns had many different rock formations and a bridge that let you walk across the river. The tour guide was very informative and was patient with our 2 year old. Across the street there were picnic tables and we ate our packed lunch there. I also noticed a walking trail, but we skipped that due to rain. Not sure if it is worth the money, the tour was fairly short, but we still enjoyed it.
I went with my parents, it's a nice little cave, interesting formations to see, it's only about 30 minutes. Tour guides are informative, will answer any questions. Can be slippery !
My son's into rocks, crystals and geology, so this was an obvious day trip. Not the largest cave, but what set it apart for me was the underground spring/river that passes through. Nice gift shop if you're in to rocks, crystals and fossils. Bathroom facilities leave much to be desired.
It's kitschy, in a good way.Because the carvern is based on an underground water system, no plants or animal life. Which means there are no bats or anything icky. Had 4 children with us ages 6-12.
