The place is a bit difficult to find. Once you turn off of Ocean Drive and turn right on Lake Shore Drive, its on the right. Just drive slow (not much traffic on Lake Shore Drive) and you'll see it. The sign isn't that noticeable but if you hit the end of Lake Shore Drive and need to turn around its easier to see :)The beer was quite tasty. The tasting room is inside the brewery itself, with the mash tuns and fermenters a few feet away. There are a couple tables to sit at (3 or 4 I think). The list of beers is on the wall. My favorites were the China Poot Porter (China Poot is on the other side of Kachemak Bay in Kachemak Bay State Park) and the King and Wing ESB, which surprised me a bit as I'm not usually a fan of ESBs. The Odyssey Oatmeal Stout was a close third. They also have a decent bit of merchandise that's pretty cute/funny. My favorite was a shirt that has on the back 'Put some stout in your snout' with a picture of a moose. Merch isn't going to change how much I like a brewery, but its nice to have a t-shirt from one of my favorite breweries in Alaska.
There isn't a lot of pretense about Homer Brewing but they have fresh beer brewed right there on tap. The beer itself was good and we sat on the outside covered porch area and enjoyed it as the rain sprinkled down. There was an interesting variety of people there and I liked there "half barrel tables". Stop in for a beer and continue onto your other activated near Homer.
Pretty awesome combination, GREAT BEER made by really nice people - wish we'd taken advantage of a Room with a Brew. Fun place, helpful information.
The tasting room is in part of the brewery. The beer was good, although it would not make my top 10 list. You can drink beer and watch the planes on the lake across the road. The place is a little hard to find.
They have an awesome selection and great atmosphere. Try the Red Knot Scotch Ale or the China Poot Porter.
They only had 4 beers to choose from but it was still worth the visit. Good beer but nothing special. $8 sampler (4 beers) but they do pour generously.
the Homer Brewing Company is a great place to stop by and try all the beers the staff is friendly and the beer is cold. they also have growlers to go, grab one for your next adventure in Homer.
Luckily for me, Homer Brewing Company offers a sampler (five 4-ounce glasses for $10), because there was no way I could settle on just one. Also luckily for me, I was staying within walking distance, because I ended up trying all 8 beers on tap this day. Great variety, and a worthy stop for any beer lover who enjoys sampling the local brews while traveling. The Red Knot Scottish and China Poot Porter were my favorites.
We stopped by on our way back to our hotel. The guys ordered a sampler and really enjoyed the beer. They have neat shirts and hoodies! The staff who worked there are super friendly and we hope they really make a go of it. It certainly is fun to stop in a place like this where your business is appreciated.
A simple taproom featuring the local brews, which are excellent. Growlers of various sizes are filled in addition to the samplers and pints. No food, though there are local oysters available next to the cozy covered deck. Nice work, gentlemen!
