After a couple of hours walk in Ashridge forest, near Berkhamsted, we end up in the beautiful village of Frithsden, just behind a charming country pub "The Alford Arms", we discovered "Frithsden Vineyard" set in the foothill of the Chilterns. In front of the winery there is a large south facing terrace café offering a large choice of home made cakes, tea, coffee and soft drinks, but we decided to go for the wine tasting option accompanied by some very nice savoury snacks. An extensive lunch menu is also available and the vineyard shop is packed with lots of goodies. We found the staff very friendly and helpful, after spending a very pleasant time there, we returned home with few bottles of Solaris and Phoenix wines. My friends and I would highly recommend a visit to Frithsden Vineyard.
We just visited today for the first time and all I can say is : We are in love with this place !Can't believe that after all the time visiting and residing on/off here we never heard of it. Well...we are going to make up for the time lost. There is a cozy outdoor roofed seating area, a lovely small shop, a beautiful light fare menu and cream teas. The wines are delightful and you can buy a glass, a bottle to enjoy there or plenty to take home. Lovely, lovely, lovely !!Excellent friendly staff too. For us, that is enough reason to return.
What a wonderful evening, the food was all homemade and was plentiful. A lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. The patio heaters worked so well we didn't feel the cold as we ate such wonderful food and enjoyed the whole experience of our evening at the Vineyard. Will definitely be looking out for their next evening event and booking a table.
Wow! Been tonight for Spanish night... 7 cold tapas, 3 hot, the best chorizo ever tasted, great portion size, great quality, great ambience... Just great! Def be visiting again, well done everyone x
We stumbled across the vineyard after a Sunday lunch at the Alford Arms and walk with the dog. What a lovely hour spent in the dieing sun drinking Solaris chatting and listening to the hubbub of chat from the locals. We bought a case to take home too. Doesn't get much better!!
A group of us enjoyed a wonderful evening here after a walk in the Chilterns on a lovely English summer evening. We sat outside and were served delicious tapas and paella, as well as, of course, gorgeous wines. The vineyard is well worth visiting and definitely worth going along to one of their events.
Frithsden Vineyard is a little hidden gem which is so worth finding...we are lucky enough to live locally, so have been a few times, this particular visit was a private 40th birthday party, a Paella evening with about 30 friends...Simon and Natalie are such excellent hosts - the setting, the food and most importantly the wine were fabulous! We have also been for afternoon tea - another delight...I would highly recommend a visit to Frithsden Vineyard, you won't be disappointed!
I have been to this Vineyard many times. My last visit was the best yet. The owners are warm, inviting, and make a wonderful product. It has the old school charm that most Vineyard try to replicate (at least in Napa Valley, Paso Robles, and Sonoma). This is definitely a place I will always visit when in the UK. Thanks Natalie and Simon for making this a special place with great wine!!!
I came across Frithsden Vineyard on an afternoon walk. We popped in and were more than welcomed by a lovely lady who gave us some information and some tasters of their delious and local wine! Following this we went to an open day event. Delious BBQ, salad and wine of course! We got to wander around the vineyard and had a wonderful afternoon in the beautiful surroundings. Frithsden have themed dinner evenings and open days and we can't wait for the next!
