Wollten eigentlich Full-Day buchen, war aber schon ausgebucht. Hatten dann Half-Day genommen und waren am Nachmittag dann alleine. War also eine Private Tour mit Guide. Was für ein Glück. Sehr geil! Wetter und Wasser waren super. Tolle Einweisung. Ausrüstung top! Haben viele Tiere gesehen und es wurde alles super erklärt. Nächstes Mal: Full-Day! (aber ein paar Tage vorher buchen!)
We took an overnight kayak trip with our 3 kids. We were very excited but did not know if we were going to like it as we had never kayaked before nor had we camped before.Christine, our guide, and her team made everything easy and smooth for us. They lent us lots of gear we had forgooten to bring, then organised a wonderful itinerary and constantly adapted to our level of experience and fitness. There are other good providers in Quadra and elsewhere in Vancouver Island, but I strongly recommend QIK as the safe and professional choice. They make feel you are in good hands. Also their prices are very reasonable, considering that they provide all the gear and the food.
We toured around Heriot Bay, passing by David Suzuki's house, stopping at Turtle Island to explore (and eat a delicious snack), and pausing to admire a ferry as it glided to and from Cortes Island. We appreciated that our very knowledgeable and experienced guide, Tony, was really encouraging of us and low key. He is a true outdoor adventurer but kept pace with us, chatted and pointed out many unique aspects of the Quadra landscape.
The correspondence and helpfulness from Jane was above and beyond. They met us at the ferry on quadra Island and drove us to the resort site that we took the kayak trip from. We had a group of 9 people and they provided us with 3 guides for our day of paddling. The guides were very friendly and informative. They provided a fantastic lunch, some play time and a great tour. We encountered a Bald Eagle, Vultures, 2 seal pods, sea stars, sea urchins, sea cucumbers and Harbour Porpoise. I would definitely recommend this outfit for your next or even your first Kayaking adventure.
The guides were extremely helpful covering all safety issues and handling of the kayak despite my level of experience. The scenery was incredible and they even had a sign, a birthday muffin and we all sang happy birthday to my wife to help celebrate her day.
Because of the ferry delay to get to quadra we were late. But they let us keep the rentals late to accommodate for the full day rate. They gave us a thorough run down of the whole area including times and conditions of the tides and pointed out everything we needed on a chart. Touring the islands of the area was awesome, especially all the wildlife seen. Will definitely go back.
We booked in for a full day kayak trip with Quadra Island Kayaks (recommended by our B&B host). Took the ferry over to this beautiful island and were met by warm friendly people. We were lucky enough to be the only 2 booked in so we had Christine, our marvellous guide, all to ourselves. We were quickly kitted out with good gear and were in the water enjoying a well paced enjoyable day of exploring the islands and shoreline off the back of Quadra Island. We paused for a half hour picnic lunch (well catered by the company) and then paddled back. Saw plenty of wildlife - marine and birdlife (including several eagles and quite a few seals swimming and basking). Christine was really knowledgeable about the creatures and the area and is a very experienced and capable guide. We had a great day and can only recommend this company.
Had a lovely 1/2 day tour including a paddle to a cove where they provided a wonderful packed 'lunch'. Our guide indicated a short trail that we should go on for a spectacular view. We had only kayaked once before on a lake but our guide ensured that we always felt comfortable. She shared a lot of information about the area including taking us to 'seal island'. Staff was friendly, the gear in great shape, cost was very reasonable. Other part of the group had cancelled so our family had a very personalized experience! Make sure you remember your camera. The tide was out so the purple and orange starfish on the coastal rocks were spectacular! Crocs worked well in the kayak.Enjoy, we would definitely go again.
First time to Kayak in the ocean and it was a great experience! My daughter, who was visiting, and I were in a double kayak. Laura our guide took us in the Heriot Bay area, pointing out sea life as we paddled to Turtle Island where we stopped to have a great snack! We also saw a house that belongs to David Suzuki. A beautiful area. I would recommend kayaking with Quadra Island Kayaks.
Great day of kayaking ... Staff was very friendly, got us all set up and ready for a day on the water. Jane and Tony were great. You will find a very enjoyable day exploring the coves and islands around Quadra Island. We would highly recommend kayaking with Quadra Island Kayaks.
