While I can't really offer an opinion on the casino itself, the hotel and racetrack part of this establishment is fantastic! Everything was clean and convenient. I loved the fact that the hotel is connected to the racetrack facilities and the fact that you could easily view the saddling paddock from indoors was a nice touch. We sat in the turf club, which was comfortable with nice clean bathrooms and an elevator that took you right down to the winner's circle. Surprisingly, the turf club wasn't smoky at all even though smoking is allowed. Seating in the turf club was a $7 fee the day that we attended and a racing forum and pen was provided at no extra charge. My only complaint was that it was a little bit warm inside, although not unbearable. The hotel room was clean and spacious and offered everything that we needed during our stay. I really wish that other racetracks featured this kind of set up. Aside from the racetrack there isn't much else to do in the local area.
This used to be a fun place to spend a few hours but it has become a home for penny players and higj limit players. They had so many great slots, especially quarter and half dollar. Some were so popular that people would stand around to get a chance to play them. So they were all removed and more penny slots added. They are in the process of renovating and that means the drink stations were shutdown and we also noticed that slot attendants were hard to find. It was very slow and many machines were empty. I also noticed that one screen, actually a small computer monitor was being used on an electronic poker machine and it was broke. They are in process of adding a hotel but I can't see us using it because of the lack of play you get for your money. Also, they have started removing an posts on Facebook that are not positive and you cannot enter a review. In the past all you would get back as a response was a canned message that never addressed your concerns. This used to be a great place and we would go often but now we we will drive the few extra hours to go to Oklahoma
Back in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 - the dance floor at the Casino was where it was at! It was always packed, the music was always good, and you could always have a good time. I was never a big fan of the bartender's skills, but hey, a beer is a beer is a beer - so I just stayed away from mix drinks.I don't know what happened but the place is DEAD all the time. The drinks still suck, unless the bartender happens to know you AND like you, and then *wink*wink* your drink magically tastes wonderful. I know some of the DJs out there and they play really great music, so it's not them, it's the people that go to the casino nowadays. I guess the crowd just isn't the same.
This is a small casino right across the New Mexico, Texas state lines. There is a wide variety of slot machines, and many of them use the newest 3D technology, so they are more interactive. There is a new hotel, and restaurant on site. If you are looking for a fun way to spend a couple of hours, this is it. But get ready. You will be surrounded by smokers, and the filtration system does little to recirculate that air.
We spent the night in their new hotel and had a wonderful time. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The horses were racing and we had a great time watching the races. The casino is like most, don't go there thinking you are going to make a living. There were plenty of open machines to play (we were there during the week) and so I had plenty of choices. Plan on coming back if we are in the area again.
We come here often. Make lots of donations a few withdrawals! The employees are polite and helpful. The only complaint I have is the smoking filtration is not up to par. Other than that we enjoy our visits!
Used to win a little money here, dont no if it has anything to do with it or not, but shortly before the new Hotel addition, they dropped their payouts on the machines I played 50% !!, You now have to bet double the money,to aquire the same jackpot ! ! ! Another problem I have, is , upstairs at the racetrack bar, after drinking numerous drinks , at a higher than normal price, they had ''NO ""affect on me ! ! ! Makes you wonder if their watering down the Booze !??!?!? I DONT GO HERE ANYMORE ! ! ! ! ! !
I have been there twice and this time went to the highly recommended steak house. The service was slow and the food mediocre at best. The casino is under construction and continues to be very smokey.
The Zia Park Hotel just opened in August, so we were some of the first guests. Décor is very pretty, and the rooms are quite nice, reasonably priced and include breakfast. Coffee was available at all hours in the breakfast area, too. Front desk staff was warm and friendly. Casino is a nice size and fun, with enough payoffs to keep you playing for a while.
I came here on a Saturday night it was fun but I didn't hit nothing big the pennies machine weren't paying I spend some money on drinks too. What I don't like is you can't take them to the gambling floor that kind of sucks. But is their policy. I would try to play the pennies or quarters machines if you try to have fun. The dollar and five dollar machine can eat your money quick. Have fun
