I enjoyed my drive to Phelps Creek and thought the tasting room to be quite lovely, small and intimate. The set tasting flight highlighted a nice range of wines and I was glad to not have to choose a sampling from a large list as you frequently have to do at other wineries, because inevitably I want to try too many. ;) The wines were delicious, I especially liked the Sauvignon Blanc. I also enjoyed some of the Pinot Noirs but thought they were a little more expensive than they should be. A couple of times during my tasting I felt a little bit ignored as there was only one person pouring wines and a few times he got distracted trying to help a large group get set up for a tasting though they weren't all present yet. It took a long time to get my final pours and to then check out with a purchase. I'd say with the various delays I was there at least twenty minutes longer than it should have taken. Not a big deal really, I just think he could have handled things a little differently as it left me not feeling as valued a customer as the big group that was starting to arrive.
I was blown away by the wine here. Very little selection but who cares when everything is delicious. I purchased the SB and the Chardonnay. The reds were terrific but too pricey for me.
The building is located on a nice golf course and the ladies serving the wine were friendly and knowledgeable about the wine and winemakers, I didn't come away from the tasting wanting more.
Phelps creek is blessed with forth generation Burgundian wine maker alexandrine Roy at its helm.French traditional wine making with Oregon fruit. For those in the know, this will be a special treat, or one of those "finds". Enjoy
Stopped here to taste the wines of Phelps Creek Vineyards and was pleased to have a very nice experience. The tasting room is very nicely appointed. They were pouring a Chardonnay, 3 Pinot Noirs and a dessert wine. All the wines were very good and our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. Worth a stop if you are in the area.
We did a wine tour here. The staff was friendly and knowledgable. The tour was a lot of fun. We did 2 barrel tastings which was unique. Rosie the vineyard dog was adorable. My only complant was the lunch. It was vegetarian and wasn't for me.
Great people, great wine. Beautiful area. Glad they ship to our state! Right down the road from the aviation and auto museum.
This is a full-blown working vineyard. See the different regions planted, cool little signs on the rows, and an awesome view!Take the tour down to the old property below, taste IN the vineyard. The staff are very homey and pleasant. The tasting room at the Golf Course is as nice as any, but I recommend you schedule the tour and head up to the vineyard nearby.
My husband and I were looking for an out of the way experience on our way to Mt. Hood's Timberline Lodge and found this charming vineyard. We were lucky to catch a tour of the vineyard via van where Izzy chose some nice spots for us to learn about the wine and the history of the vineyard. It is a primarily family run business that has evolved over the years with grapes that produce some delicious Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The tour featured the wine business from start to finish. We were educated about the best growing times and the history of the area as one of the best places to produce delicious wines. After we viewed the bottling and shipping departments, we were treated to some tastings that offered superb views of Mount Hood in a very relaxing atmosphere. We highly recommend this vineyard and enjoyed the care our guide made to ensure a very pleasant experience.
Phelps Creek has a small tasting room so it can be a bit tight but the lovely wine and excellent service more than makes up for it. They have been my go to tasting location for family and friends when we are visiting Hood River.
