Our Motel room was poky so we ate our take away at an outdoor table in the Botanical gardens. It was quiet and restful (the friendly magpie wasn't noisy) and we enjoyed the garden.
Down the back of the gardens is a shaded BBQ area and play equipment for the kids to run around. BBQ are free to use...
Not sure if it's always like this, but it's very small, with limited flora. Don't make a special trip!
Beautiful gardens, love the politics garden with the busts of previous politicians. Lovely place for a picnic.
Lovely gardens with beautiful big shady trees which provide relief from the Horsham summer. Nice lawn areas, kids playground and bbq facilities, short walk from the Wimmera River. Superb spot for a picnic.
Pretty landscape...time to reflect on the 'town of old'. Not lots to do in this little town. Walking distance to town and cafes.
The gardns were ok, nice little place to stop, but saw a heap of mullets - maybe they were having a mullet convention? Didn't see as many mullets in the shopping area though.
For a town the size of this one to have a botanical gardens is a rarity. Although only fairly small it is a great place to have a wander or a picnic. It is clearly sign-posted that dogs are not allowed, but we were nearly bowled over by quite a large one in the presence of it's owner. Both dog and owner were enjoying the park.
Stopped here with the trouble and strife and tin lids for a break during a long road trip. Picked up some Chicken and Chips from around the corner at the Horsham Charcoal Chicken (not recommended) and found a park bench here. The place was busy but we still found some table and chairs. The kids enjoyed the playground and the toilets were clean. A nice spot to chill for a bit.
The Horsham Botanical Gardens are interesting and have paths named after previous curators. They have a lovely rose display and places to sit. Many interesting plants are there to see and be inspired by.
