Met friends to do the boat ride ($6. per person) but it was full so we did the trails. The trails were fun. We walked past a Gilligan's Island small beach area and saw boats on the reservoir. The Environmental Center was educational and interesting. Staff (volunteers?) were friendly and informatives Seemed like a world away from the urban scene. It was relaxing and fun. This is an especially good place to bring young children.
Very beautiful and clean area. Could always find a quiet place yo just hear nature. Has a river you could rent a kayak or fish on
Serenity around the corner awaits you. Watch the eagles swoop down for a meal or walk the five mile perimeter for a great cardio workout. Bring the family fishing or just hide out for awhile and meditate.
My husband and I love to walk the 5 miles. We see lots of sights. People are walking, biking and running.
Great place to exercise - jog or bike during day..Good trail system that circles around the reservoir..
Get away fron the Mall and busy shopping and spend sone quiet tine with the kids ot just by yourself. Playground, Environmental center, water activities, 5 mile running, walking, biking trail. Picnic and play.
The Manasquan Reservoir is a great day trip, with plenty to do. The park has several trails, including the 5 1/2 mile trail that goes around the Reservoir. The Reservoir trail is mostly paved, and well maintained, goes through woods, partial open field space, and along the Reservoir itself. My last visit to the park was in August 2014. The temperature was in the mid 80's, and sunny. The trees, plants, and views were beautiful, and wild life (birds, etc.) add to the experience. The Environmental Center has many displays, and a film room, and a customer service station where the are helpful and friendly. They will put in a film of choice when the film room is empty. Moreover, the Center is educational, and enjoyable. I learned much. I especially enjoyed the park being a hiker, vegan, and environmentalist. The Visitor center is nice too. Bathroom facilities, are neat and clean at both the Environmental Center, and Visitor Center. Everything is very well maintained from the buildings to the trails and so on.. A lot of pride goes into the maintenance, of the park, and they should be commended. Finally, I would like to commend how the Reservoir (needed to supply the area water), was also make it into a park, tourist attraction, destination, and a place to educate the public on the need to preserve, take care of, and REVERSE the damage of Mankind on the environment. WOW. excellent thinking and doing. This was my 4th visit in the year to the park 2014. It is the best Hike in Monmouth County, NJ, and the best Public Environmental Centers in New Jersey. 8/2014 visit: I went with my sister, no children, category not below. The park is Free, Free Parking,
Quiet place to visit any season. Path marked clearly to keep track of progress. Very scenic and peaceful. Have done the 5 mile trail many times. Enjoyed it.
Manasquan Reservoir is a NJ gem. There is the Visitor's Center and the wonderful Environmental Center which provides an interesting education about the local wildlife for young and old. Then, there is a beautiful 5 mile Perimeter Trail that you can walk or bike. The trail is smooth and wide. It makes me glad that I live in New Jersey!
Love this place, we go quite often and it never disappoints! 5 mile walk around, nature trails that branch off and plenty of wildlife make this a gem in an otherwise populated area
