Played Jacks twice in a week but unfortunately got a bad deal from the weather both times. The wind in particular made finding the fairways and greens extremely tough - almost impossible on a couple of holes. Protection is required on some greens as our balls were literally blown off the green when we attempted to putt. Try to gauge how bad the wind is before you head out, as I doubt it is ever completely calm. Having said that, the course was a pleasure to play. It was well laid out, in immaculate condition and the vistas of the Remarkables and Lake Wakatipu were absolutely superb. David and the rest of the pro shop staff were also very patient and helpful. Jacks is a must if you are in Queenstown with your sticks, even at NZD$180, and even if the wind blows.
Layout of course was fantastic. You felt like you were in a world of your own. Great coffee in the clubhouse. Every hole was a picture postcard and the wind was a bonus in terms of a challenge.
A must play golf course with some amazing views, but the golf course is a real test, service is first class from the team
Jack's Point was to me the best course in Queenstown. The fairways and greens were immaculate. The course design on a huge expanse of land made every hole seem very private. The views over the lake and the Remarkables was awe inspiring. There replay game deal made it good value.
If in NZ south island and love the game of golf this is the one course that you don't want to miss. Green fees, hire clubs and cart cost around $220. It's up there but well worth it. Brand new ping25's, some of the most spectacular holes I have ever played. Some courses I have played before include, The Vines Resort Perth, Glenelg Adelaide , The Dunes Mornington, Natadola Bay Fiji , Hope Island Gold Coast , Bonville Nth NSW and I rate JACKS as my favourite, so get your butt on the fairways and enjoy one of the best mornings/afternoons of your trip.
I have played golf in many many locations, and without doubt this is the most challenging, delightful, beautiful, well kept and best course I have been on bar none. For beginners, it will hone your skills...and for the experts out there....it will test your sense of strategy and skill...but without doubt it the absolute beauty of the course...that makes it a spectacular experience. The staff was very helpful and the tips provided were spot on. The cold beer and "fush-and-chips" at the Clubhouse were the best we had in NZ.
If you are in Queenstown, don't miss Jacks Point if you are a golf lover. It is stunning with a great layout, with beautiful views across the lake towards Queenstown. if you are from the US or had an opportunity to play courses around Lake Michgan, this is very reminiscent of those courses. The price is reasonable for a course of this caliber. There are frequent opportunities for lost balls and the greens difficult but fair. I played several highly rated golf courses in NZ on this trip and this is one not to be missed
If you have a bucket list of golf destinations and you're a serious golfer then Jack's Point has to be high up on your list. No point in repeating all the acclaim from the other reviewers, they're all spot in. This place had everything a golfer could wish for, on top of which it's affordably priced and the staff are super friendly. We've been visiting for several years, never been disappointed. Well done to all involved. Looking forward to coming back next year already.
We just fall in love with the beauty of Jacks Point and the course. Although we had average slightly wet weather we still had a fabulous time and the staff were just so helpful in the pro shop.
One has only to read the other reviews to accept that this is a must play. A return visit within 7 days rewards one with a substantial green fee discount and the opportunity to course manage a little better. This is one of our favourite courses from all over the world. An important word about tee times. We are here in February and like to play early, but even in summer it can be bitter at 8.30am.Better to leave your tee time until 9.00am or after and take a beanie and long underwear. The green fees are not cheap but not expensive when compared to similar courses in Bali, China and Thailand.Don't miss this.
