The talks about the birds and other wildlife were highly informative and entertaining. The area is well laid out, we could easily have spent longer there but had a timescale snd had to leave after a couple of hours.

We hadnt planned for this park but found it while we were visiting Skyline Gondola. Very well maintained and allows you to experience the wildlife in its true essence. Fun to visit.

If you're looking for an action packed visit, full of showbizz and razz, this isn't it - thankfully! A nice quiet location, with an informative and entertaining conservation show with birds flying low over us and a few nice surprises too. The audio tour guide commentary on the headset provided as part of the admission fee added to the experience. Take it slowly and enjoy the tranquility. Not cheap perhaps, but goes towards a good cause.

Set in the valley between the gondola station and Queenstown centre the park is described as having free flying birds. Birds in cages are not really free flying. Hawks especially need plenty of air space rather than just a perch to sit on. The only birds I saw free flying where the local tui, fantail and silvereye, all of which can be seen anywhere in New Zealand.

New Zealand, being isolated in the Pacific, was only home to three mammal species (all bats) before humans began introducing dogs, sheep, deer, rodents, and the like. So if you want to meet the islands' original residents, you should seek out the birds. The Kiwi Birdlife Park in Queenstown is near the foot of the gonadal, about a five minute walk from downtown. It's medium-sized and mostly outdoors, so it's probably more fun in nice weather than rain.The park's main attraction is its kiwis, housed in two kiwi houses where they're reversed the day-night cycles so that the nocturnal kiwis are active during daytime hours (which they perceive as night). They also have an array of other birds including the Kea, Tui, and Morepork as well as the prehistoric reptile Tuatara.To beat the crowds, I would recommend arriving just as the park is opening (0900) and then staying for the Kiwi feeding at 1000 and the conservation show at 1100. You can actually get quite close to the animals in their enclosures, so the park is more pleasant when it's not packed with other visitors.

We learnt a lot about endangered birds and really enjoyed seeing the kiwis. We had a brilliant view of them foraging about looking for buried titbits. The show was informative and very entertaining. The young staff are obviously really dedicated and knowledgeable. There is a pleasant little café selling good quality snacks at a reasonable price.

Found it to be too expensive. Could only see one kiwi :(. Not many other things to see. Can easily give it a miss except for the fact about conservation of kiwis

Finally got to see Kiwis which was so exciting and the information given by the conservationist was very interesting. A stroll through the park and seeing the other birds was nice too. The conservation talk was presented by a knowledgeable and passionate employee which was entertaining and educational. Loved it!

We came here not quite knowing what to expect, sometimes such places take on the aura of a theme park, not Kiwi Birdlife Park. The talk at 11 was excellent, we saw the Kiwi feeding at noon and then enjoyed walking around the surprisingly large park - the information boards gave just the right amount of detail. Hard to believe that it is only minutes away on foot from the busy town centre - recommended.

Brilliant showcase for the birds of which many are hard to spot in the wild. Great educational sign. And the giftshop had really authentic options to take away a memory.
