Arrived here with the weather sunny and with some time to spare visited the Visitors centre and viewed the films, and read the history. A worth while experience. When outside to wait for the geezer to show for us and the weather had changed dramatically, to sub zero, snowing and so so cold. But the cold was worth it. This is amazing. A must and one ticked off my list.
Yellowstone is a unique location. Geologically speaking, it's full of features not found elsewhere. The Visitor Education Center explains these features in enough detail to make them understandable to visitors of all ages and backgrounds. Children will enjoy the hands-on exhibits. The staff are helpful and can answer more detailed questions.
There were many places to go for information and a mass of literature. Movies, exhibits and guides. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Old Faithful spouted right on time.
You enter into the visitor's center to get to Old Faithful with a huge picture window for those that can't or don't want to take the 2 minute walk to the geyser. Nice museum display, bookstore and brief movie; but I wish they had a place to sit down and eat lunch. Food and Beverage are not allowed inside or anywhere near the geyser - very good policy since people's trash can fly around accidentally (or on purpose for those that don't pick up after themselves). It's just that with the altitude, physically it was challenging for me to walk over to the Snow Lodge to get a bite. Good thing we brought our lunch and sat down outside the front entrance on a bench, but can imagine how crowded it gets in the summer peak months. And you need to take your trash with you, another great policy to make people conscientious about te ecology of the park.
Very nice building, informative rangers at the desk, fur and bone exhibits to touch, nice little shop and a gorgeous view of Old Faithful out the window. Step outside and you're there viewing Old Faithful. Very, very nice visitor center.
We visited the centre to see the exhibits and the films in the auditorium, both of which were very interesting. The highlight were the two night visits to the centre to hear the Rangers talk about the park. Ranger Steve spoke about bears one evening and Ranger Annie spoke about bison on the other. Both were very entertaining and we learnt a lot about these animals of the park.
Great staff, lovely location, one of the best visitor centres we've visited. Even for the end of season it was very well presented with good facilities.
Yellowstone is such an amazing park. This is a worthwhile stop because it is Old Faithful but there are so many different areas to see. We spent most of a. Week exploring different areas of the park and still didn't see it all. Will definitely go back!
The Visitor and Education Center offers an exceptional opportunity to learn about the surrounding area and physical characteristics of Old Faithful Geyser. Hands on learning and information are throughout with videos and examples of things you will encounter in Yellowstone. The center is right in front of the geyser with a clock and time card showing the approximate time of the next eruption. The center also has a gift shop.
Lots of nice prints. Several night time prints of the geyser and theMilky Way. Absolutely stunning!
