Visited this vineyard twice in the pst month and have to say the view from the outdoor deck is spectacular at sunset. The wines are slightly better than average.
Attended the wine boot amp with some friends and had a blast! The owners share their enthusiasm and knowledge of wine in a very entertaining way. I have wanted to learn more about wine and this was the perfect way to start. We talked about, and tasted, some of the wines they make as well wines from other places. I ended buying a great red wine made in Idaho, Idaho! It is really worth it to do the boot camp, I only wish I lived closer so I could attend more of their sessions. In addition to the wine "lessons" we also did a session on pairing different wines with different chocolates. This was an awesome way to spend a Sunday afternoon, I highly recommend it. I also have to mention that the setting and views are beyond beautiful!!!
We attended the wine boot camp on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The owners Carl and Donna were our hosts. In a couple of hours we learned a lot of very practical tips about how wine is made, navigating the restaurant experience, food pairings and other issues. The group was about 14 people. Our hosts made it a lot of fun. We tasted as we went and concluded with a taste of their wines which are very good. They have a companion business in Little Washington that focuses on chocolate, wine and other treats. 90 minutes from DC. A great weekend getaway.
We have visited here several times and my husband and I were actually married in their field. Really good wine and service. The dirt road win tour wines always have something new and interesting. Also if you want to use this venue for a function they are VERY reasonably priced and accommodating.
We were looking for the Chocolate Loves Wine shop, and found this affiliate of theirs. You need to enter in the back of the house, and you feel like you are pulling up to someone's home. The wine server was very nice and appeared to like what she was doing and gave a nice rendering of each wine. Expensive as far as tastings go ($10 per person). Wine was OK.
Enjoyed the wine boot camp. Sampled soooo many wines and even the most seasoned vino-philes learned something new.
Great winery with great selection of wines. The wine club is very worth it as well to collect little known wines around the country
Knowledgeable staff with a wide selection of their own wines in addition to wines from around the world on the tasting flight. Relaxed and enjoyable afternoon in a beautiful setting.
What an experience, beautiful view, wonderful selection of wines from all over the world (as well as, wines crafted by the resident vintner from locally grown grapes), and a 2+ hour seminar on the art, pairings, chemistry and drinking of . . . wine. It was an interactive and wonderful afternoon. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys wines and the Virginia wine area.
A great experience for those knowledgeable and not so knowledgeable about wine. Quite an immersion seminar into structure of wines, when to send a bottle back at a restaurant, what to do with the cork, pairing of foods and especially chocolate.Expect to spent 2 to 3 hours at the winery as the bootcamp is small groups and the owner takes the time to answer your questions. As a person who does not care for red wines, I have learned if a wine is paired with the right foods, the flavor of the wine changes. There are wines from the winery itself, and wines from around the world. Take advantage of all three parts of the bootcamp. Truly worth the money.
