We spent about an hour in this store trying to pick out a tablecloth for our dining room. The woman who helped us was extremely helpful. she took extra time to make sure we had seen all of the choices and even took several cloths out and spread them on tables so we could see them. We ended up buying a beautiful heirloom quality cloth. Terrific store!
Nice home furnishings, unique gifts, best smelling soaps and lotion.... not to mention the beautifully painted ceiling and the warm hospitality from the owners. you will enjoy shopping here!
Over a span of ten years, we've found that this shop has jacquard linens clearly on par with what you can find in the villages of Provence (without the cost of the plane ticket). The first time we were here we had bought a tablecloth in Gorde, but neglected to consider linens. We found the exact pattern when we stumbled upon RH. This time we bought another tablecloth, and had a difficult time selecting between great patterns. Clearly a surprising little gem in the Virginia countryside.
The owners are delightful - open, friendly, helpful. The merchandise is unusual, clearly hand selected. Lovely shop.
Although we didn't buy anything on this trip, we will be back in time for Christmas shopping. They have a great selection of hard to find, unique gifts - and certainly ones I wouldn't mind having in my own house. The hidden art gallery in the basement has some interesting finds as well (like a Matisse).
This store has beautiful housewares, gifts and art that you won't find just anywhere. The owners and staff are knowledgable and pleasant, and browsers are welcome. Most recently, we bought a set of dishes, and have purchased many gifts for friends.
I can't say enough good things about this beautiful shop. There is always something new, the art and rugs are interesting and of the highest quality, but best of all are the people there. Joanie, Robert and Gail are incredible kind and knowledgeable and will go out of their way to help you find just the right item.
We enjoyed some time in R.H. Ballard. Lovely items for the home from textiles to art to jewelry, soaps and cards. Definitely worth your time.
dhfeld,It's wonderful to hear from you! I'm happy to hear that the tablecloth is being displayed on such a beautiful surface, like your formal table. We appreciate the compliments and hope to see you two again someday!Best,Robert and Joanie, Owners
On the cold February day when we visited the owner was in the shop. Besides the wonderful linens, the beautiful artwork, and all things French, it was a delight to speak with the owner who was welcoming and friendly. I found several gifts for special people and some things for myself too. Wonderful soaps, lotions, rugs, linens, gifts. Since I was traveling by plane, I was limited to what I could purchase and take home but I will shop their online site for other items that I loved. A tip... I visited a shop with two locations, Creme de la Creme in Middleburg & Leesburg, VA, that had similar items but at a much higher cost. So my advice is that you should shop at R.H.Ballard if you are looking for French inspired items in the northern Virginia area.
