Hi there! Thanks so much for your great reviews and we are ecstatic that you enjoyed your visit in the Museum. Hope to see you in Outback Queensland again in the future!
Checked the website before we went, and saw that they are closed only on Chrstimas Day and New Years Day, but they have a sign on the door that advises they are closed more days in Jan and Feb. Maybe give them a call before you go. Coucil really should update their info.
Hi Peder2013Thanks for taking the time to review the Flinders Discovery Centre. We are so glad you enjoyed your time here! We hope to see you in the area again in the future. Safe travels!
The Flinders Discovery Centre has some very nice displays of fossils both from around the world and the local area. It is also part of the Visitor Information centre and the staff can assist you in other local attractions and information as well as pamphlet's and souvenirs.Upon entry you will see the life size replica of a Muttaburrasaurus, who is actually nicknamed "Hughie" we were told and towers several metre's high above you. There is also a couple of video's to enjoy. One of the area of Hughenden and it's history, the other in a small theatrette where you will learn about the 500+ million year old formation of the nearby Porcupine Gorge. We stopped here also because it formed part of the included purchased,"Extended attractions pass" for the Dinosaur trail. This works out at a discount price to the four main sites along the dinosaur triangle.
Hi There! Thanks so much for your lovely review for the Flinders Discovery Centre. We are all glad you enjoyed your visit to the Centre and on Australia's Dinosaur Trail and we hope to see you in the area again in the future!
Hi Jenny H, Thanks so much for your lovely review! Hope you enjoyed your time in our region.
Hi Ishkaa We are so glad you enjoyed your visit into our Centre! Hughie our Muttaburrasaurus is certainly a sight to see. We pride ourselves on being helpful and approachable to our visitors so we are happy you felt welcomed. I'm sorry that you your experience at other local establishments weren't 100% however we hope this doesn't effect your thoughts on the town overall and we hope to see you again out our way in the future.
Thanks so much for your review! We love this area and hope that everyone gets the chance to visit Porcupine Gorge National Park.
It was interesting to learn about the natural history of the area and see the reconstructed dinosaurs.
This was great value and very informative. It is user friendly, the video was fantastic to summarise historical events succinctly for children and adults. There was a large variety of specimens on site covering all aspects of earth science, from soils to gemstones to fossils.
