I stopped in today, Saturday the 26th. I wanted to see the place and talk to the ppl there to see if I wanted to do dive training and go for swimming since its only 30mis away. The girls were hesitant to even let me look..or drive past the intrance...but once the kids & girlfriend got out the car all dresses up, they could see we were not trying to sneak in (some places have that problem) so I explained I was interested in doing my dive training there, then they Did Let Us Drive Through :) asking us not to get out of the vehicle. It was beautiful, clear water with tints of blue and the camp sites were clean it was nice that not too many ppl were there. @6 visible divers and @ 30 individuals bbqing and swimming. Family style. The roads were a little rocky and one steep hill, SUV and Trucks recommended. I read a lot of bad reviews on the rudeness of staff and the owner but I can't say that was my experience this first time scoping it out.
We were are Blue Lagoon a couple of weeks ago and the vis was great 20 to 30 feet. Not that many classes which helped with the vis. Enjoyed the day.
This is the perfect day trip if you like gorgeous blue water and no fish to scare the kids. Be prepared to sit in line for your spot if you are not a diver. Just get there early, it's worth it for a quiet day out of town. Your car will get really dirty on the gravel road so don't wash it before hand.
Great place to take the family swimming (with no lake creatures such as fish and whatever else is in lake conroe) and picnic for the day (beware the admission is 16 a person...which I find a little steep, but worth it since it is a clear lake with no creatures it in) . If you are wanting to get in and you are a "swimmer" you need to go during the week. The weekends are busy and this is really a dive park, so drivers get 1 st priority and swimmers can get turned away if full. Luckily this weekend we went with a friend who was a diver (and could reserve a space in advance) because at 10:30 the park was full and all swimmers who were not with divers were turned away.
I have lived in Texas all my life & never knew this little jewel was just an hour away from us. It felt like we were on some Caribbean excursion. The water is so clear & blue. Make sure you stay away from the floating white buoy, which this is the diver's area and they need that area cleared of swimmers. Great place to picnic with family & friends.
We went to see this lagoon and the staff was rude. We drove from far and they did not even let us go take a look at the lagoon because it was full. Our cell phones did not have signal and we tried to call our friends that were already inside and had reservation and the staff did not even let us go find them, so rude!
My wife, son and I are beginning divers and came here August 2014 for additional practice. It is difficult to find clear water bodies in Texas and we were glad to find good 20-25 ft visibility here. The water is clear and has a bluish color to it. There are 2 separate lagoons and we did #2. Water temp was 84-86 F and there are several sunken objects so divers can explore (boats, platforms, etc). We found a max depth of 26 feet. Recommend to call beforehand to reserve a spot as the place seems popular with both divers and swimmers. We are planning to return for more practice dives, family time and picnic. Front desk personnel were friendly. Other details:Cons: no changing room or shower building. I changed in a port a potty. No much animal life in lagoon, saw only tiny fish no larger than 1-2 inches. Pros: good shore dive entry sites with parking spots and picnic covers picnic tables.
This is a weekend well spent. If you are not into diving, then you can just swim and eat and enjoy the beautiful day. You will get amazing photos in this location and it will just calm your nerves
First time going to blue lagoon this past Sunday and we can't wait to go back!! It is such a beautiful place for the entire family to enjoy! We had to wait 3hrs to get in becuase they opened for the general public (becuase it is a scuba diving place) at 12pm but the wait is totally worth it! The staff is very freindly and the price in my opinion is a great bargain for having your own private little beach are with covered picinic tables, grill, restroom close by and the view and beautiful water to swim in!! With the summer around the corner we are already planning our next trip!!
Thanks for visiting the Blue Lagoon. As all of our rule abiding customers will find, the Blue Lagoon is a very friendly place to be. If you were one of the individuals who broke the rules, or tried to sneak someone in after you had paid for your entry, then yes, you were asked to leave the park. When you break the rules you must leave and there is no refund. Remember we are a PADI dive facility, and we cater to Scuba Divers first. However non divers are welcome. More info on our facility can be found at www.bluelagoonscuba.net All non divers who enter must be at least 18 years of age and be with a legal guardian. Divers under 18 may be accompanied by their instructor.
