This was a real surprise a display of this quality in the bush, it is a must see and again made more enjoyable by our guide. It is well worth a visit and you will not be disappointed.
If you admire great handicraft and needle work you will not be disappointed. The collection of gowns of the past is astounding. We will never see this sort of work again and the patience and skill of the ladies is indeed admirable. Don't forget to look up and see the wild flower decorated ceilings.
Lunch time! We stop for lunch at this "Lace Shop".Our guide told us that we can walk around the place after lunch (included in the tour). So, we need not pay for the entrance fees - Wild life park, Lace shop & toys shop. Set lunch was OK, we get to sit by the fire place. A cosy place with wild flowers all around.Nice place!See pics!
Very unique with a well presented display either on models or in specialised tray drawers with magnifying glasses to enjoy the intricate work.
This collection was much more than we expected - must be the best in Australia. So well set out and if you are interested in a dying art this is the place to see it. Wonderful Place!
I usually leave these places for my wife to discover while I go to Bunnings or Tackle World, but out here I didn't have any option and maybe my feminine side came out, as even I was impressed by the intricate work that goes into making these garments. We loved the wedding gowns, especially the one with horses embossed around the bottom of it as the bride was getting married at a racecourse. Another piece that really impressed me was about 1.2 metres square, with images of famous buildings from around the world all done in lace, but for mine, the outfit that a farmers wife made from the strings of a super bag had to be the most inventive piece of clothing in the whole place. Apparently, back in 1960, super phosphate bags used to be sewn shut with 2 threads, one cotton and the other a shiny synthetic thread called vynylon. The jacket and skirt were made from the cotton thread and the blouse from the shiny vynylon. The outfit has a fluffy look because of all the knots, as the threads from the super bags were only in 80 to 90 centimetre pieces. Well worth a look
Be prepared to spend an hour lace viewing this remarkable collection. This collection has heritage pieces and lace given in honour of loving families.
To view lace and items made of years gone by. A must see for those interested in history. Very nostalgic.
What a find! The amount of lace in the display cases is astounding. One could spend hours there and still not see it all. To find this kind of display in such an out of the way place is quite a surprise. The wedding gowns and the many other articles of clothing also make it even more interesting. Do take the time to visit this display
I purchased the gold pass which enabled me to visit all the museums at Wave Rock. I was so impressed with this place. It's incredible to note that such exquisite pieces of work has been around for so long.
