The theater is a single screen and shows a history of the theater in the previews. Great place to see a movie when you are in Idyllwild.
this theater plays first run movies! there is only one movie playing and it plays either 1 or 2 weeks and then on with another first run movie. there are blankets for the patrons if it is too chilly. old building so you feel like your watching a movie in a theater from the old wild west.
We have been full time residents for over 10 years and have seen many improvements at the Rustic. They have recently upadated their sound system and boosted the heat in winter. They are host to a fantastic International Cinema festival every January which features 5 days of films. There fee for entrance beats all neighboring communitites.
In the whinter time we take a blanket in because it can get cold in there. It is the only theater on the hill.
W knew we weren't getting stadium seating so there we're no surprises. It was comfortable and cozy. The only thing bad was that the armrests didn't go up. We bought popcorn and a soda and both were a little cheaper than a regular theater. The ticket prices were average also. We enjoyed our movie. There was good sound and good viewing! We would go back.
As a resident of Idyllwild we visit the rustic frequently. The projection booth has been recently upgraded providing better picture quality. There are throws available in case you get chilly in the cooler months. The price for the movie beats any theater in larger cities. The Rustic is the cite for the annual International Movie Festival at happens in January.
My family has been spending Thanksgiving in Idyllwild for as long as I can remember.Every year we spend one afternoon watching at movie at the Rustic Theater. The Rustic Theater is a bit of a historical monument in Idyllwild- as it has been around for a long time. But my how charming it is.Upon entering you are welcomed into a cozy main room. DVDs on the wall, where you can rent videos, and a comfy couch you can take a seat on and watch a movie. Behind you is a small concession stand where they sell the usual theater refreshments. Two large doors on each side take you into the theater. It is usually cold in there, but the blankets on the seats make it cozy.Being a native of Los Angeles, and being used to the usual mass theaters, its time to come up to Idyllwild and share this experience.
This is a great little venue to see a vintage or current movie. It just has that "Happy Days" kinda feeling. It's a great deal and retro experience while in Idyllwild. Easy to walk to from lodgings or hotels in and around town. Plus its great to walk to other little shops and eateries. This is way better then the Mall Experience. Great for the kids or an Adult Date night. Just go you'll love it.
There is a surprising amount of room in this old theater. The owner actually made a movie himself, called Manhater. It sold only a few copies but was downloaded more than 50,000 times, unfortunately he makes no money from those downloads. There is a nice little lobby where you can rent dvd's or sit and watch them on the big screen tv.
Cold, but the theater provided a blanket. One show in the afternoon @ 2 and then an evening show. The popcorn was GREAT!
